BAGHDAD -- A chlorine gas attack was responsible for 27 of the 46 deaths reported Friday in Iraq.

The gas attack was on a police checkpoint outside Ramadi, roughly 60 miles west of Baghdad. A suicide truck bomber rammed into the checkpoint as police fired at him.

Besides those killed and some 30 people wounded, many others reported breathing difficulties. Police say some needed hospitalization, but most were released in about 30 minutes.

It was the ninth chlorine gas attack since they began more than two months ago. The attack is believed the work of al-Qaida in Iraq, which is thought to be hitting back at Sunni tribesmen. The tribesmen are banding together to expel foreign fighters from their territory.
    but . . . but . . . but . . . I though there were no WMDs found in Iraq???

With the way Iraq is right now who knows whats in their... If this junk was found say in mass quantities in 2004 I could see that there was chemical weapons in Iraq. But as we all know a High School Chemistry nerd knows enough to make that junk (or at least a crude form).

This sounds more like Insurgents using media to help spread panic and fear. Is it a problem we now have to contend with? Yes. But with the condition that Iraq is in I am surprised there is not more as an smuggler can get crap from the black market to the insurgents as easily as walking down the road.
