We also enjoyed Maui Brewing Company's brewpub, but the one in Kihei is better and has a view. Maui (and Hawaii in general) is beer Hell, with the exception of the Maui Brewing Company and some of their award-winning beers. I am very fond of their 9% Imperial Coconut Porter.
The only brewery I hit was Honolulu Beer Works when we took a day trip to Oahu. Stayed sober in Maui because we spent a lot of time in and on the water.
In God we trust, all others are run MILES and NCIC.

I'm not familiar with them. The hotel I normally stay at on Oahu, is near the Ala Moana Center mall, so we normally just walk over to Don Quijote to pick up a sixer of Maui Brewing Company's coconut porter and some food from the food carts in front of the store, and take it back to our hotel room before sunset. I don't like hanging out on the streets after dark down there.

The death toll is at 106 and counting. They're hoping to have a final number by the weekend. There's a bunch more cadaver dogs, so it's going faster now.

The paranoid delusionals, many of whom have never even been to Maui, are claiming the tsunami sirens were intentionally not sounded, for the purpose of killing more local people. That's just stupid- if the tsunami sirens had sounded, everyone in Lahaina would have fled mauka up Lahainaluna Road...directly into the path of a 17,000 acre wildfire being propelled at 60 mph by winds from Hurricane Dora. THOUSANDS would have been killed.

You can’t fix the stupidity nor the racist island groups.

111 dead, 38% searched. Still over 1,000 missing.

Only a handful of those killed, have been identified by authorities, and I don't think authorities have named any of them.

That information is being muddied somewhat, by people telling the media about people they claim were killed, but I suspect those haven't been confirmed by authorities. Among them are two Mexican nationals (tourists, I suspect) and a group of four apparently unrelated old people aged 74 to 90.

A number of families (mostly Filipino) run small nursing home type operations out of their homes, to pay the mortgage. Some appear to be legit, and some don't. When a home is hit by a fast-moving wildfire, it would obviously be impossible for one or two tiny female Filipino attendants, to move a handful of old broken-down people out of harm's way. So they probably just fled and abandoned the four old people, who were subsequently killed by the fire.

This wildfire is a tragedy on so many levels. I love dogs. I could never have been a dog officer, because I would have such a hard time sending a dog into harm's way. I don't place the value of a dog's life above a human's life, but our own dogs add a lot to our lives. When furnishing our new home three years ago, I spent about $3,000 on a decent queen mattress (and frame) for our master bedroom, and our 70 pound female Texas Heeler mix rescue dog slept with us on the bed. She was extremely high energy, so we got her a playmate, a male adolescent rescue puppy that was supposed to be a yellow lab mix. He was soon sleeping on the bed with us too. But she calmed down, and he grew up to be an incredibly barky 55 pound mix of some kind of Chinese fighting dog or something. So we got him a playmate in the form of a third rescue puppy, a male chocolate lab mix. As soon as he was house-trained, he started sleeping on the bed. But he grew to 80 pounds, and we ran out of room on the bed...so I had to spend another $3,500 to get the exact same mattress and bed frame in a king size, and we moved the other one into a spare bedroom. I love dogs. It saddens me that thousands of pets are missing and presumed dead in Lahaina. If I were on the ground there now, that would probably be the hardest part for me.

Herman Andaya, the head of the Maui Emergency Management Agency, gave a statement today confirming EXACTLY what I said yesterday:

...and then he resigned, probably due to harassment, threats, and bullying.

Well…he was WAY out of his depth. He has no business being an EM.

I have no idea. My wife thinks the whole agency is a joke.

                114 dead, over 1,000 missing.

Those spreading rumors, are trying to shout down the truth. Some s#!thead is being quoted by the media as saying there's 480 dead, they've run out of body bags, and families are having to do their own searches.

                    The governor, or the mayor?

I know the mayor, Richard Bissen. He was a Hawaii State Circuit Court judge. He's a solid guy.

What did they say regarding the idiots?

115 dead, over 1,000 still missing.

100% of the single story single family residential structures have been searched. They're now moving on to multi family, multi story, and commercial structures.

Due to how expensive real estate is in Maui, a high percentage of homes are two story, because it's cheaper to build up than out, and a second story often makes an ocean view possible.

Sad part is that it will be very likely that remains of a lot of the missing will never be found. With the extreme temperatures, Not a lot of DNA left in the remains to be tested.

Also, it's very odd that so far the bulk of the identified deceased are older. Despite multiple reports of children perishing in the blaze, none of them have been positively identified.

It will be quite a while before everything will be sorted out.

Very dark day in the history of Hawaii.

Sure wish the Governor would stop saying it was a "natural disaster". A typical fire investigation could take weeks, possibly longer, to determine the cause and origin of the fire. Until all is said and done, it's a "disaster".

My heart goes out to all of the families and those who lived through the mayhem.
Getting shot hurts! Don't under estimate the power of live ammo. A .22LR can kill you! I personally feel that it's best to avoid being shot by any caliber. Your vest may stop the bullet, but you'll still get a nice bruise or other injury to remember the experience.

One child identified. They really need a cleaner system to address this. Too many Chiefs yapping and collecting data.

I respect that people want privacy, but not submitting DNA, not cooperating with the G is just stupid.
