  • New Mexico Declares Border Emergency

I'll concede that the NM Governer is an ex- Clinton Hack but shame on Bush for not doing what needs to be done. What would be so wrong with deploying US Troops to monitor the borders?

I think it would hurt Vicente Fox's feelings.

The whole thing is absolutely ridiculous, and you're right; shame on all of the politicians for being so scared to act on the border issue. Just shows you who's interests they have in mind.

The southern border is probably one of the biggest threats to our country; however, the northern border is an equal threat. I have a friend who teaches at a highschool in Kuwait that tells me virtually every muslim he meets has Canadian citizenship. Canada just about hands citizenship out like America hands out welfare. It's not gonna be long before those muslimist extremists wise up and start penetrating us from the north.

I can't wait to see what Bush has to say about this NM border emergency. He probably won't say a word or give NM any federal funding. Oh, but he can unilaterally give africa billions of dollars for aids. I strongly dislike that faker in the White House.

Don't be fooled by Richardson, his policies have been very friendly to illegal aliens. Sounds to me like his state is going broke paying for the social services that he allows them to use and all he wants is more federal money, using the border counties as a excuse.
The liberal politician has the only job where they go to the office to work for everyone but those who pay their salary.

Even if what you say is accurate, the fact remains that NM has a serious problem with illegals streaming across it's border. The 9/11 Commission recommended beefing up the Border Patrol with an additional 2000 Agents. Bush approved 200.

Like I said even if Richardson is a Clinton Hack it is Bush who has his head up his *** when it comes to securing our borders.

Which is why he won't send money to Mexico.

The use of military personnel for civilian law enforcement is a violation of federal law. Specifically the posse comitas
                act of 1798.

The US borders would fall under this? I realize the Border Patrol is not military but they are Feds so it's not like the government is powerless,

Bush needs to propose that this particular Fed law be changed when it comes this issue of securing the Nation's borders. He can call it the "Common Sense" law.

You are correct on the act however, this would not apply. The military can patrol the borders and detain peolple, turn them over to the BP and also assist with serveillance. There are also several joint task force operations that allow federal troops to work with LEO that do not violate P.C.. When troops are being used for these purposes thay are briefed on what they can or cannot do. They don't just send them out in the desert and say "round them up".

IT is shameful to BOTH sides of the government that NOONE is doing anything more than lip service. All this talk of the northern border and such....guess what, the terrorist already know about it and have for YEARS! They have already exploited the Canada route and are well established within Canada and the US. Sure some have still come through the southern border and many through the north, and lots more "legally" as students, then they just happen to get "lost" in the country. All this PC crap and left vs. right fighting is a godsend to these America Haters.

Until we close the borders and REALLY go after those in country, it's just lip service. MORE MONEY isn't the key. Let LEO's arrest for illegal aliens and you'll see a HUGE shift of immigrants leaving this country.

...I'm sorry... I can't for the life of me figure that one out. I can't even remember writing that.

IMO, this governor is just declaring the border in a state of emergency because he's up for reelection. He's trying to fool his residents into voting for him to solve the issue, but it will all just be a lie. The border will probably go back to normal after the election.

Are you saying there is no problem along the US- Mexican border? Or is there just no problem in New Mexico because Richardson is a Democrat?

Geez does Bush ever make a mistake on anything? Even your boy Savage must have a problem with Bush's handling, or lack thereof about the border issue.

I'm glad you didn't have a vote in the Papal election, Bush would be wearing the white and living in the Vatican.

In this "Common Sense" law his administration might include the abolishment of Don't Ask, Don't Tell policy of the military.
-I don't feel you honor someone by creating a physical gesture (the salute). You honor them by holding them in memory and, in law enforcement, proceeding in vigilant, ethical police work. You honor this country or deceased soldiers or whatever you're honoring when you salute a flag by thinking, feeling, and continuing a life of freedom.

What does this have to do with New Mexico's border emergency?
