Governor Rick Perry feeling out 2012?

Anyone here from Texas that can fill us in on your Governor?

Off hand, I'd say he would probably be the strongest candidate in the field. He doesn't like Obama, so that is a huge bonus. Actually called him out a couple of weeks ago on the fact that BHO visited all of the other states that were slammed by tornadoes, but did not visit Central and East Texas which were slammed by a deadly wildfire AND tornadoes before The rest of the Southeast. The only time he came here was to speak in El Paso and lie about the border being safe.

He has been a little sketchy on education. But the state is still doing better than alot of others. OH, and he did tell Obama off, did I mention that already?

The problem is...he's the governor of Texas, and that's a connection to the last president who was governor of Texas. The media will hammer, and hammer, and hammer away the idea that he's just W repackaged. And since "everyone" knows that W was the 2nd worst president in American history (just above Andrew Johnson according to a panel of "experts"), he'll never get elected. The liberal media has basically made any position that Bush ever held to be a career ending black mark. The Imperial Wizard of the KKK would probably have a better chance than anyone who's been governor of Texas.

Sad and stupid, because I think that Perry would be a good option. I'd vote for him.

IIRC, I heard this morning that there's a known rift between Gov. Perry and President Bush. I'm not sure how far the similarities would extend, although I could see an attempt at linking the two.

And Bush only came to Washington state twice...both times to fundraisers in Medina (think Beverly Hills). He didn't come here after massive flooding in central Washington in '07.

          Your point?

This guy was threatening to secede a couple of years ago and now he wants to run for US president.....everything is bigger in Texas, except the intellect.

No, he wasn't threatening to secede. Nice try though. I love how people want to slam Texas on intellect and intelligence, yet don't know s**t about us.

Oh, and Perry had one of the greatest lines for a politician, "Adios, Mofo."

Perry said: “Texas is a unique place. When we came into the union in 1845, one of the issues was that we would be able to leave if we decided to do that. My hope is that America and Washington in particular pays attention. We’ve got a great union. There’s absolutely no reason to dissolve it. But if Washington continues to thumb their nose at the American people, who knows what may come of that.”

Rudy, why did he make the statement then? Slip of the tongue?

I know some Texans very well, and their Texas pride is their logical achilles heal.

He, like many governors, were reminding the federal governtment that they were trampling on the US Consititution, and reaffirming their commentment to the 10th Amendment. There were many states doing such, I guess they are al trying to secede too. No, he did not try to secede, there was no secret Masonic meeting about it, no vote or anything like that. Hell, Vermont has had more talk of secesssion that anyone else. Why don't you go bag on them?

And so you know some Texans very well, good for you, that doesn't make you an expert on Texans. Hell, my dad drives a car, does that make me an expert on NASCAR?

My parents visited Chicago when I was in college and brought me back a souvenier. I guess I know all there is to know about Chicago now. Well that plus I watch the officers from Illinois on Speeders alot.

Come on man, tell me you are smarter than that.

Hehe, I actually agree that the feds are overstepping their Constitutional powers, it is just kinda fun to push the buttons of Texans and get them riled up. I honestly don't know if a president could do much to change the feds overstepping their authority, every president seems to get Washington fever these days. It seems like it will require a SCOTUS ruling or an amendment to actually put the brakes on the power grabs by the feds.
