          Err....

One of the issues with HR218 is that Departmental Policy can over-ride the law....

If your Agency tells you that you can't carry a weapon off-duty....and you do....You will probably be safe from being chaged by a DA it....but would be screwed by your agency for violating departmental rules.....

I have heard of several agencies not allowing full-time officers to carry off-duty.....so....

Sounds like the meeting someone you arrested is a good start, how about the we can be available to back up a full time officer if need be? What exactly are they worried about?

Liability if you shoot someone with their gun ?

              overall liability ? What ?

do you have an FOP or union that may be able to help ?

Can you get a State Carry permit to cover you off duty ?

If its a gun issue, like they do not want you to keep their Dept. weapon off duty, maybe write in that P/T offficers may only carry a personally owned weapon .... I dont se why they would put a reg. in like this unless they had a bad experience.
