heres a couple of thoughts I had:
I hear him say we are going to end the war....many times over. The problem, we had like two or three people say the same words about the vietnam war only to be in office- and unbelievably the war continued. Its called not having all the info until you get that chair- then you come under some other orders about really stopping or being able to do it. (I can't explain it other then the other powers that are there when briefed and you get "the real deal" what the media wont tell you on the behind the scenes...)

the taxes- come on, cut here increase here- the rich will move around, break up and then..well that money isn't there anymore.

the jobs over seas? look at Walmart. When Sam Walton started he had a certain vision, he on;ly did made in the USA and all....now the kids see dollar signs and shipped everything over seas and treat their people like crap. and guess what, American sheeple keep going there not even thinking about these consequences. I don't shop there, I shop target. (same difference I know)
the gas dropped- now that Gustov is out there and the gas prices are already starting to rise. But then again it could be that its labor day!

I don't buy what he said, but can't take another 4 years of what we have now. I guess I'm voting for Bugs bunny. at least he eats carrots and has normal BM's so he isn't full of it!

Interesting, that's exactly how I felt when Bush was voted in for another four years.

Unbelievable the unobjectivity floating around here. Some of you need to admit that you immediately dismissed the man before the speech and thus ignored everything he said.

I was impressed by it and my vote will be one of millions. We'll just have to see if it's enough.

Now it's McCain's turn. I'm curious to see his VP pick.

How, he can't do anything to the tax code, only congress can. He can sign it or veto it.

As someone else posted where is this money coming from? I know, OUR pockets.

They just did, now what are they going to do? Again he can't change anything only congress can.

The last one is a bold faced lie. THERE IS NO LINE ITEM VETO! He has to either veto the whole budget or sign the whole budget into law.

The funniest part of last night, is when you realize that it has been reported that the Republicans are having trouble coming up with 10k people to show up, when the democrats filled a football stadium.

You don't need to raise taxes to invest in alternative forms of energy. It's called a budget. Every year the President signs one. It's money we're already spending. How do the Republicans want to fund oil drilling in ANWR and off our shores? Instead of paying for that, put that money into alternative forms of energy. Where does the money that Bush keeps throwing away come from? It's not about us giving more money. It's about taking the money we spend now and spending it differently. Not a hard concept, folks.

As for the McCain/Afghanistan/Pakistan debacle...yes we should go after him. Going into Pakistan does not mean a nuclear war will erupt. Obama made a point about McCain's stance at the beginning of the war...you misunderstood it...I pointed it out. What to do about it now is a completely different discussion. Regardless, we're handcuffed because of Iraq so whatever we SHOULD be doing with the Taliban & Bin Laden, we CAN'T do it right now, and that is a direct result of the right's policy, a policy which McCain has supported since the beginning.

Why single out a specific type of weapon? Because "AK-47" sounds a lot worse than "gun." I assume you're a republican, so the use of certain terminology to incite a reaction should not be foreign to you. "Alternate Procedures" for torture. Whatever terminology they used instead of "bail out" for Fannie May & Freddie Mac. "Ethno-sectarian conflict" instead of Civil War. And on and on.

As for Congress being able to do anything with code, etc. If we have a Democratic congress and a Republican president, NOTHING will get accomplished, as has been the case since the last election. It'll be 4 more years of a stale mate. If we have a Democratic congress and a Democratic president, at least things will be done. It remains to be seen whether what they do will work, but I'm ready to give the majority to the Democrats and see what they can do instead of majority to the Republicans or a split Congress/White House. The Democrats can't screw it up any worse than it is.

The fact of the matter is some of you vote republican no matter what and some of you vote democrat no matter what, so it's pointless to even discuss, because no matter who is on the ticket, he's the better candidate not because of his views on the individual issues, but because of the letter in parenthesis that goes by his name.

Thanks for the discussion. I'm excusing myself from here on out. God bless & stay safe.
The big question for me following the speech is HOW?

He said that he would change almost everything under the sun. However, he never said how he plans to change anything.

Another thing, he said that McCain has become part of the Washington problem because he has served in the Senate for 20+ years. His running mate, Biden, has been in the Senate for 30+ years. If following this train of thought, who is the bigger problem?

BHO also mentioned that we don't need "AK-47's". Get ready for another useless ban of those "evil" looking weapons.

Did yo happen to catch the part about going after Bin Laden in his cave? That would mean invading Pakistan. A NUCLEAR nation.
Well, McCain said he'd go to the Gates of Hell to find him...I'd be a bit more worried about Satan than Pakistan, wouldn't you?

Precisely! Conversely, the other guy is the enemy because of the letter by HIS name.

My views on Obama - with a speech, he can work magic. Of course, working this magic is much easier when the people you are talking to are pre-disposed to liking your ideas.

Without a speech, he's not nearly as polished. I suppose this is to be expected, extemporaneous speech is more difficult. I take it as a sign that he doesn't know his material as well as he should, but for all I know, he's just nervous.

The debates will be very instructive ways of comparing the two candidates.

I will say this. The man can speak. He did a good job putting his speech together and did an impressive job. He's very inspiring.

                          However.

He's a socialist, so I'm still not voting for him.

The republicans are having a hard time finding people to fill their seats?

Doubt that, im sure theyll talk to their evalengical friends to force their sheeps to fill their seats.

I have a feeling the RNC is going to be just one big ol' sermon talking about god, guns, and how much they hate abortion.
