"1) Wikipedia is NOT a credible source. It says whatever it's liberal authors want it to say."

Equinox (sorry spelling might not be right)

Calling someone liberals or right wing extremest is not an argument. It doesn't prove anything.

The background to his post was that there was a god in government debate and a guy quoted wikipedia to show some history. The history happened to be correct but this was the argument to prove it wrong.

Calling someone a liberal doesn't make them wrong. I do not understand how this type of argument is still be thrown out there. Argue the points made not who they were made by. A 2 year old can get lucky and say 2 plus 2 is 4. Saying she is a 2 year old doesn't make him or her wrong. A 2 year old can say 2 plus 2 is five. Saying he or she is wrong doesn't make him or her wrong.

Sorry had to vent about that... It just drives me nuts when people do this kind of name calling. Not only does it not prove anything but it shows why we will continue to have huge swing in the government instead of getting the best people in there.

Well ANY source can be wrong, whether it be a Wiki or science journal or even (can you believe it??) Newsweek (!! I know, be still my beating heart!). Some are just more wrong than others (ie: CNN...chuckle).
For those who want to argue religion, my views are in the sig. This avoids days of repetition and is convenient. Thanks and good luck in your quest.

        LOL!

        Thanks bldg. I remember that.

I also remember thinking sarcastically... Yea, so typical... when confronted with historical facts and quotes that dispute your position, attack the source, not the information. The same info is available from innumerable other sources but I guess they're just other bastions of liberalism too.

Also reminded me of the old saying comparing arguing on the internet to running in the Special Olympics.

It just something that is found in any argument .. always drives me nuts. Not sure why this the thing I go off on just is.

It is funny .. people always say liberal media when Fox does the exact same thing just the other way. All sources have bias and are slanted. Fox is the leader in this and for the most part I am on their side.

Actually, they arent conservative they just give more of the common sense conservative point of view in addition to the finger pointing liberal side. They try to give more of the story instead of what point to make.

Any educated person can switch back and forth from CNN TO fOX and see the difference in almost every story regardless which side you choose.

They arent slanted they just give more of the whole story and unfortunately for you liberals that takes away from the left side when more of the truth is presented. Tell the whole story and let people decide for themselves. Liberals have never done that in the media. Fox merely gives more of the whole story, not a slant. It proves the make up of liberals as far as the whole truth goes. Why dont they follow up on things they believe in by reporting the results of their programs and ideas in action. Because they fail miserably, thats why. Everything from Welfare to GUN control has been proven to be a failure, yet you dont hear the facts for follow up on any liberal media sources.

                  Holy Crap Batman !

What kind of twisted logic is that?

Any two year old that says two and two equals five is WRONG.

Saying that they are wrong, is simply acknowledging the fact that they are wrong. I dont know where you went to school, but where I went 2+2=4.

It aint rocket science...unless you happen to be a liberal. Then I am quite sure that one could argue that correcting a 2 year old by saying that they are wrong could possibly damage their self esteem to the point that they will never be productive citizens.

You know what though? That kind of perverted logic makes it much easier for my kids to excel in school simply because they can think.
Heres a quote for you that you might enjoy...

"The American People will never knowingly adopt Socialism. Under the name of "liberalism" they will adopt every segment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation without knowing how it happened."

                  Socialist Party
(at one time a U.S. Presidential Candidate )

man...Ive heard some interesting discussions on this board, but it seems like they get weirder and weirder as time goes by...

And here we go again. Slinging the word liberal cause you think the posters comment was stupid.

I believe the poster was making the point that outright calling someone wrong and then blasting them with name calling does not equal a debate (heck you just proved that). What he meant was tell them they are wrong and then back it up with facts or a reasonable retort.

But then again what do I know I am just a stupid liberal apparently.

Anyway, in all seriousness..Liberal, Copnservative, Neo-con..What do ANy of them mean. Conservatives tag those who disagree with them Libs, Libs tag those who disagree with THEM Neo-cons..what difference does it make?? Im'a Conservative, always have been pretty much.. Anm i a "Neo-Con" I dont think so, there aint awhole lot "New" about me. I Dont hink Liberals are "Stupid" per se, i think the major differences in Liberal and Conservative are on a mindset, and perception level. In my expereince, the "Liberal" has a tendency to be more emotional in his (or her) positions, Whereas the "Conservative" tends to be more pragmatic. As one of my college professors said many many many many moons a go "A Liberal will tell you what he feels, a Conservative will tell you what he thinks"

Dude liberal and conservative beliefs aside I just can not stand the Bush administration. I just believe that the government is suppose to work for its people. Not the other way around. To many people have gotten it into their minds that we should follow along with whatever our "leaders" say. We are not mindless robots.

When Brother Bill lied and then got off easy we allowed a bad precedent to be set. Regardless of how "well" America was doing Bill shoulda got his. Same for the Administration we see now. Sadly not all of them will get theirs. As was stated in another thread. The media tells us what we want and we allow it. Thats what continually keeps our government full of garbage. To be honest none of the presidential candidates impress me.

Maybe we can start cloning a famous dead president.... whose up for cloning Harrison? He only did like 30 days in office lets give him a second chance... this time without that whole dying in office thing.

I totally disagree. I think the "regular" media are slightly more conservative than liberal and FOX News is extreme right and anything but fair and balanced.

Let's start with the " regular" media ala CNN. These outlets cannot report the truth about a lot of things because they have major corporate sponsorship, particularly the drug companies. You'll never hear about what really causes cancer or what prevents it. Any alternative doctor would be dismissed as some sort of wacko. For example, it is widely known microwaving food in plastic causes breast cancer. The heat casuses Xeno Estrogens to seep from the plastic into the food thus causing cancer. The " liberal" health authors that I read have known about this for years. In fact, I have know about trans fats and hydrogenated oils for over 10 years. Not from CNN, who would have never reported something like that back then, but from my "liberal" sources.

As for Fox News, they are a complete joke and a mouth piece for the Bush Administration. They never ever give both sides of a debate. And when they pretend to, they portray the guy on the left as some liberal nut job. Just watch O'Reilly. He never gives both sides of the story. He'll let the guy on the right tell his side and immediately hammer the guy on the left before he can get two words out of his mouth. Here's a classic: He'll say something like " next ahead, we'll hear from some left wing nut job who thinks we should abolish spanking", as if all people on the left feel this way. I've never heard him say " up after the break, we'll talk to some right wing nut case who thinks it should be madatory to read the Bible four hours a day in school". Please don't tell me those people don't exist either because they do and I'm sure in the same degree as those on the left.

If you think Fox isn't ultra right just look at most of their regular contributors. Falwell and Robertson were regular guests along with Ollie North and G. Gordon Liddy, a criminal in the most corrupt administration in history.

Speaking of Falwell, was wan't he vilified on Fox when he said gays and lesbians caused 911? Fox went after Ward Churchill ( a scumbag that I have no use for) and tried to get the guy fired. Why was what he said any different than what Falwell said?

Sorry man I can't do it. I listen to "The Drudge Report" and can barely stomach it.

Journalists and other News outlets at one time probably presented the facts and let America decide how they felt. This day in age we have people who care more about Brittany and Paris than they do about whats happening in their own backyard.

Media, regardless of who it is, will play to their audience. They play the numbers and report and say what their audiences want to hear. It is capitalism at its best. If I knew I was going to make $80k for calling people "left wing nut jobs" then I would probably do it to.
