  • started assessments ..

Hey guys, i'm currently attending the police academy and we just started our first set of assessments. They will not tell us what "qualifying" time is so how does this sound so far.. I also think there is no actual "set times" or numbers just as long as we increase as the coarse goes bye.. not sure on that though.

    age: 23
    height: 6'
    weight: 185

    agility run: 15 seconds
    standing long jump: 8'1"
    pullups(chinups): 10
    pushups in 1 min: 50
    situps in 1 min: 62
    1.5 mile run: 13 min
    60 yard dash: 6.5 seconds

I know every academy is different, but if you guys could tell me what some of your #'s are or what they want to "pass the test" it would be great.

As you said, every academy is different, so throwing out numbers of what they want to "pass the test" wouldn't necessarily be relevant to your particular training experience. Ask your PT instructors what "numbers" they're looking for in terms of your progress through the course of the academy. It shouldn't be any great secret.

For tangible information on how you actually stack up right now, look to your fellow candidates. Where do you measure up compared to them?

Your numbers look fine - although I think you probably already know that.

Keep doing what you're doing. Good luck with the rest of your training.

Those are pretty good numbers but like my instructor told me " allows try to advance, you can never be to good."

Big Red, I would suggest you do a little practice.. you have a month. Try to get up as many as you can. But there are 50 people in my class and only 30 can do 5+ chin-ups. They put us into two groups "cans" and "cannots" the cannots help eachother by holding there legs up while they do 5 chin-ups, maybe get a friend to hep you this way and practice. I have come to think there is no "set" time or amount of things you have to do.. just show improvement.

There are a few guys who can't do 10 pushups, 20 situps, or 1 chin-up.. so your definitely not alone.
