  • Update on running for KRJ

    KRJ,

I wanted to give you a quick update on how my running is going. I can't thank you enough for the advice. I'm running the 4 days very similiar to your recommendations. I have increased my distance to almost 4 miles and I can run that at a steady 8.25 mile/min pace. On my interval day I can run 1 mile in 7 minutes.

A word of wisdom to the rest of the guys and gals on here trying to increase your speed and stamina. Start with the stamina, eat right, drink enough water and rest and the speed will come. If you keep your heart rate in the 85% range or slightly higher then your VO2 will improve and the shorter distances at quicker paces will be A LOT easier.

Thanks again KRJ, I am actually ENJOYING running now! Oh yeah, if anyone on here has a neutral foot or a supinating stride I HIGHLY recommend the Asics Gel Kayano 11's. They are the BOMB!

        That's outstanding on your progress!

About the Asics, I haven't had much luck with the Asics running shoe. I have the Asics TN430/GEL-Nimbusvi and the bottom on both shoes is wearing out, also the right bottom is falling apart. This is happening only after two months. I guess I need to go back to my good old New Balances.

Sounds like you're doing pretty well! Keep up the good work.

Could someone post the link to the original advice that krj gave, or was it via private communications?

          Thanks.

I have only been running on my Asics about 1 month but so far so good. I was running on Brooks Adrenalines before that and while they are a much lighter shoe they have ZERO cushion. I would take those Asics back to the store where you got them and see if they will give you another pair or issue a partial credit for something else. 2 months is way too short (unless you're running like 8 miles a day 6 days a week or something).
