  • Most Embarassing gym moment

I created this thread so everyone could post the most embarrassing thing that they have ever done in the gym.

    Today was my embarrassing moment.

At the end of my Chest/Tri workout I decided to do bench with only 25lb weights on, so a total of 95LBS for max reps to get that "last pump"

Well I estimated my last rep and tried another and hit that sticking point and had to rest the weight on my chest

The only way to get it up was to roll the weight down my body and do a sit up and basically clean it up on the rack loll. At that time the two hottest girls in the gym walked into the bench area to only see me not being able to bench 95 lbs

No, maybe I can't win, maybe the only thing I can do is just take everything he's got. But to beat me, he's gonna have to kill me, and to kill me, he's gonna have to have the heart to stand in front of me, and to do that, he's gotta be willing to die himself and I don't know if he's ready to do that. I don't know, I don't know.

Really more painful than embarrasing... but, I was benching with a spot and had my thumbs wrapped around the bar the same way as my fingers... stupid I know but I loved that grip and it felt like it was all chest. I started to bring the bar down and it rolled off my hands and fell on my chest.

Immediately felt a crack in my sternum followed by a hot pain... deep bruise, tenderness and hurt to breathe for a few weeks...

Aint been right since, I never got checked out but I was told by my freind who is a doctor based on my symptoms that I probably had a stress fracture on my sternum. It still bothers me sporatically 7 years later... Was able to lift heavy awhile last year and tried to get back where I was but it would flare up and stop me from training

    ---------------------

On a side when I was in highschool my buddy was doing incline dumbell presses. After his last one he went to set the weights on the ground... Well his arms were spent so the weight flopped to his side catching one of his fingers between the dumbell in his hand and a dumbell on the ground next to him. Caught one of his fingers and smashed it... broke the finger and actually split the skin open...I almost vomited when i saw it ...

The first time I got on an ecliptical machine I fell off.

I was so uncoordinated the motion freaked out my body, and it caused me to slip and fall off.

While trying to re-rack a 45plate I dropped it on my foot right in front of the hot girl who worked the juice bar. Broke my big toe. blood everywhere. Not fun

On a good note, the girl ran over with a bag of ice and I got a date. Went on the date on crutches =)

When I was seventeen, I was squatting 315, when I was done with my sets I unloaded all the 45's from one side of the bar. The bar and the three plates on the other side went flying off the squat rack and crashed 5 ft to the floor. There was an experienced trainer on the other squat rack next to mine getting ready for his set and it about jumped him right out of his eighties spandex along with the rest of the gym. I was yelled at by the eighties spandex man and was embarrassed. I did finish my workout though, I figured well, I am not going to leave, I may as well finish my workout.

I've had a few embarrassing moments. Mostly dealing with me dropping heavy weights and the entire gym stopping to stare at me. I work out a lot alone, so not too many chances to embarrass myself anymore.

Someone jumped off a treadmill and never stopped it. I steeped on it and went flying off. Now funny as shi-, Then well lets say it was 12 years ago and I wasn't as nice as I am now lol ( I am glad I didn't find the person)

                  Second

I was on the squat machine and ripped one-loud as hell. Of course the gym was packed. I just asked the guy next to me if farts came in chunks

Ya, what I did was very dangerous, the rule is no more than a 2-0 ratio of plates per-side on an Olympic Bar, if you need more weight you must put some on the other side.

At my old gym, we had a squat press machine and this person was doing some heavy weight. Well when he was done, he unloaded one whole side and the whole apparatus tipped over with about ten plates on one side. Not as loud as my blunder, however it took three men to lift the squat press, take the plates off, and set it back up.

Squatting with 625 (attempting a PR) and only one spotter (my other training partners could not make it that day, and there was no one else in the gym we trusted to spot). About halfway up, I let my upper back get a little loose, which made my back round a bit and I pitched forward. The bar hit the rack, but below the j-hooks. My partner and I were trying to move the bar up, but it caught on the bottom of the hooks.

This only took a second, and the bar crashed down to the pins. At the same time, my knee wraps were forcing my legs up fairly straight and the belt was tight, so I was bent pretty far over underneath the bar and couldn't get out from under it. I was starting to black out when my training partner literally gave me a swift kick in the *** which pushed me out from under the bar.

All the pressure inside my body that occurred resulted in blood in my eyeballs for two weeks. I looked great.

Oh, and three weeks later, I smoked the weight and squatted over 700 a year or so later.

Ok, this one's totally not my fault but I was doing lat pull downs and the cord, which was obviously freyed within the machine, snapped, and my 190 lbs of weight came crashing down to a god awful metal smashing sound and I fell off the back of the machine with the bar still in my hand.

After the gym manager offered me "a free month" of membership, I promptly switched gyms...
