  • Home Defense gun

My 57 year old parents have never owned a gun but now are interested in getting their concealed carry license to carry it on the road (traveling a lot) as well as for home defense.

Any ideas to what gun they should buy?

One that they are comfortable operating and can fire well.

Take them to a range and let them try a bunch of different weapons.

And remember just because they HAVE a gun dosent make them armed.

.38 wheel guns are popular for beginners due to the lack of complexity, but let them shoot a few and hold a few.

Just keep it simple and help them practice.

I concur with getting them to the range first.
A good 3" model 64 is an excellent choice.
Load with .38 +P or 110 grain .357 for lower recoil but good power.

I would think a 2" revolver would be a good choice, easily concealed, not big at all, easy to use and clean, and perfect for self defense.

                3-4" 38 +P or WWB 110 gr 357 Mag, as mentioned above.
Also consider 22/22 mag revolver but make it reliable. i know there is better rounds, but few are afraid to practice with a 22.
