  • External Carrier BUG

My agency is switching over to external carriers, specifically the GH APB (pictured).

Im trying to figure out how to effectively and covertly carry my BUG on my person while not going the ankle or pocket route.

I know now it is frowned upon to post up BUG carry techniques in this public forum, so could someone please message me and help a brother out??

    Thanks in advance!

What is your BUG? That would help, however based off what you mention I have seen belly-band holster used. Like the ones used by joggers and such. You might even be able to wrap it around your uniform shirt under the carrier. FYI I have gone the easy route and carry and ankle rig due to the external carrier.

My carrier (Safariland Bothell) has a built-in back-up pocket, so no secret on where I carry mine. Why are you against the ankle?

G43 currently. Looking to possibly switch to a P365 soon though.

Im not a fan of ankle rigs because my pants tend to get caught on them and ride up.

I might’ve asked this question here a few years ago. Ultimately ankle carry was the only reasonable option. Take a look at the Gould and Goodrich Bootlock. They make two versions, I went with the nylon one. The boot bears the weight of the firearm, barely notice it. I did have to bring the length of a couple pants down but it was worth it.

I use JG Carriers and they can build a holster into the inside of the front part of the carrier. I have it to where I can grab my BUG with my off hand. Plus it's an extra piece of metal between the public and my heart so it can catch a bullet if need be.
