Springfield XD and S&W M&P

I haven't had an opportunity to fire either of these weapons. What do you guys think about these pistols?

i've had the xd in .45 for about 6 months now and never had a problem with it.

I like my XD-40, its light, not too much recoil, accurate, easy to clean it, it dismantles into like 3 pieces. Overall i like it. It made Handgun of the year if that makes a difference. here is their site: Springfield Armory XD pistols

As far as what I've heard, they are both good weapons. The M&P was built as a replacement for the "Sigma" series, which were garbage.

I have the XD in 9mm. If I had to carry a "plastic" gun, it would be the XD. Never a malfunction, accurate, light, and it carries lots of BB's. It fits me like a 1911 - my pistola of choice.
No experience with the S&W.

i think id rather have the xd 40 than both of my glock 40's, i love that gun!
