Does anyone know an on-line dealer who can give a deal on either Rock River, Colt, or Bushmaster AR-15? I'm looking more for an LEO model. I'm finding that these companies are slowly rasing thier prices and have limited stock available.

    Thanks,

    TGY

Are you currently in LE? If you are, you can purchase one through your agency if you pay for it. I have my own personal AR-15 I bought through the agency I work for. I doubt you can purchase a LEO model outside the agency. Maybe I'm wrong, but that's how 98% agencies function here in the state of South Dakota.

Well I think when I send the dealer the "letter" that says I will not sell, transfer blah, blah, blah, takes care of that. Some of the dealers I have found have an LEO deal but I'm just being the bargin hunter since I am paying fror this myself.

I'm not sure if you'll be guaranteed a LEO model with that "Letter of consent"

I mean if u can get away with doing that by letter.. every criminal is gonna have a field day with giving "Letter" swearing they won't sell or transfer or use it in a robbery.

I don't know much. All I know even in when I worked Security and I needed a Radio holder, I had to have the Company's name, and my Badge # in order to do this, and they had to verify it with a phone # of the company. It's the same way except the Sheriff, or Chief of Police writes a letter saying this Officer may purchase to a certain amount per year. With your badge, and your full name. That kind of stuff.

If you are purchasing one through a private dealer, that MIGHT be illegal if you are buying a LEO model. ( I think so because then that would consider as an assault weapon to a civilian )

I'm not so sure about that one. I guess it depends on WHO this company, person or wherever you are getting this weapon is, and where THEY are getting them FROM.

I see your point. At every site I have looked at like www.sawlesales.com doesn't seem top ask for much. Now I'm not looking for class III platforms. I assume most of the pre-bans are now no-bans.

That looks like a part shop, not selling the whole package. Also, it gives LINKS to the weapons of another website. I don't think this site actually SELLS the weapons. It just a link to where you can buy the whole gun, but still says LE weapons, which means you are gonna need a current LE job or anything related as sworn in officer status.

Well I guess I forgot to state that I am a sworn officer. I know that I can purchase as an " Individual Officer Purchase" by submitting the letterhead form signed by the Chief or whoever. I am wondering where I can get the best deals.

LOL, You left that Minor Details out of your Original start thread. Streicher's have a good deal on those. But to get one, you have to call them.

I noticed that. I've heard different opinions on whihc is the best brand. Most say go with Colt but they rose thier prices and I don't want to spend over a $1000 since all the bells with surpass that. I've benn looking at Rock River and Bushmaster but the cheapest I found in town is $1100.

We've got some DPMS M4s from Streicher's that are great. They cost less than the Colts, and the quality is the same, if not better.

Well in town the only dealer that had them was asking $1200 and offered NO LE discount. With the on-line auctions I have found no less than $1300. I am not pushing SAWLESALES (on-line) but so far they have the lowest price for LE which a little over $1000.
What seems to be a trend is that many shops for ALL ARs, local and on-lin,e run out just as fast as they get them.

As long as it is semi-auto only you should have no problem buying leo guns on a department letterhead. Some places on line have prices below $1000 for colts such as www.bhgunrack.com.

My pd also have DPMS. For non-colt, I would go with bushmaster or rock river arms, probably bushmaster.

As long as the gun is semi-auto, you should not need a letter period. Remember, for those of us not in socialist/communist states... The Assault Weapon Ban has expired.... Therefore, letterhead is not required... It even says that on B&H's website.
