  • Armorer School

I'm looking for advice on a rifle armorer school, AR15 variant. I've found Colt. I also ran across American Gun Institute Law Enforcement Armorer tele-course. Any advice from those who are armorers would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks

I went to the ArmaLite two-day (AR-15, M-16 & AR-10) armorer course. I got as much there as I did from a week at Ft. Benning, GA in the Army's course.

The Colt LE Armorers Course is pretty good.

I've gone through a Bushmaster Armorer course when they were offering it through the Blackwater. It was 2 day course and was a good course. Colt and various places offer it, but seems like they charge more than what Sig Sauer Academy is offering at.

          Defensive Edge 2 Day Class

I've built three personal rifles and assisted others in building four or five others since this course. This class and instruction goes about as far as you can get with AR's without actually machining anything.

Defensive Edge/SLR15 is the best. Sully knows more about ARs than most of the people that teach the other courses. He has no allegiances to any company, so you won't get a sales spiel or any kool-aid. We originally sent our armorers to Colt courses, and I was the first to go through Defensive Edge/SLR15. To give you an understanding of the difference of training, I was the only one that actually knew how to remove and replace a barrel.
