  • Glock 27 IWB Holster with thumb break?

Anyone have any recommendations for a Glock 27 IWB holster with a thumb break?

Just curious why you want IWB with a thumb break? In my experience most guys carry IWB without a thumb break, because in theory it concealed well enough not to need that level of retention. If you need a thimb break, most of time your carrying OWB. Maybe as a duty gun for a derective or off duty concealed under a cover shirt.

I carry a 27 off duty and in my opionion, it's tough to beat. I carry IWB with the Desantis Cozy Partner. I highly recomend that rig, but it doesnt have a thumb break. I would recomend the Desantis Thumb Break Scabbard for OWB carry. Galco is also another reputable brand.

I have a Comp Tac holster for my Glock 30SF. I also have a knock off similar to the Comp Tac which I actually like better. The first day I wore it I went to the Miami Zoo during the summer. I was there for about 6 hours walking around in 95 degree heat. Never even felt like I had it on. The best part about these holsters is that there is leather between the gun handle and your skin that absorbs sweat and keeps the gun from rubbing up against you. Throw on a t shirt and you are good to go.

If ever there was an argument for "the market has spoken" in the firearms industry it is evident in the lack options in the "IWB holster with thumb break" category.

Blackhawk makes some nylon IWB holsters with thumb breaks. I hAve the ambidextrous one with mag holder I've used for my G22. The aliengear works well and has adjustable retention. Both are too thick for me to carry my G27 while wearing shorts and a tee shirt. I use an old uncle mikes that has a metal clip instead of a plastic. I do worry about the gun moving up a little so I see where a thumb strap would help.

If you must have a thumb break, check out the Bianchi Pistol Pocket:

I'd highly recommend the Comp-Tac Infidel Ultra instead:

+1 for a thumb break or at least 'some' type of strap to help keep the gun from slipping out of the holster. I have the Uncle Mikes IWB holster for my G27 and the gun has slipped out several times so I stopped using it.

I have been carrying subcompact Glocks in a Comp-Tac MTAC for years, never had it come out when I didn't draw it. It has never even started to come out of the holster accidentally.

Uncle Mikes is pretty much a one size fits most, junk holster. Upgrade to a Galco or Desantis, and no thumb snap is required. Your gun will be snug and secure, and you won't spend custom holster prices.

If your going to spend a few hundred bucks on a gun, spend a few bucks on a holster and belt to carry it in.

I have two primary OD firearms a G27 and a Walther PPK I've had for almost 20 years. Most often I carry the PPK in a pocket holster as I prefer fitted shirts and refuse to "dress around my gun" That being said there are situations/times where I am more comfortable carrying either the PPK or my G27 IWB. One of those occasions is when I choose to ride around the city on my bicycle as opposed to fooling with the headaches of parking etc. In that case I like the added measure of a thumb break to ensure my gun does not inch out due to repetitive motion. I tried a few and my personal favorite is a suede Galco IWB. They sell them at Amazon, which works out great for me as it seems every gun shop on earth is opposed to keeping left handed holsters in stock.

Don Hume makes one that is decent: http://www.donhume.com/index.php?mai...products_id=36

If you're just looking for a little extra retention, try something like these from Bladetech: http://shop.blade-tech.com/inside-waistband-c-1_13.html

Your firearm clicks into place and won't just slide out like a leather holster.

I know those IWB holsters with a belt clip and thumb break are popular, but why? Are you trying keep the gun inside your holster? Trying to easily remove the gun/holster combo from your belt?
