Is it unwise to keep rounds in your magazines for an extended period of time?

I have been told from several sources that what causes stress in the springs is the constant loading and unloading of the mag.....not keeping it loaded for an extended period of time.

Take a paper clip, bend it one time and leave it bent. 100yrs later it is still bent, bend the same clip 50 times and it is broken.

These guys tell the truth. You will damage a spring by compression cycles or by stretching it too far in either direction. Neither happens by keeping a magazine loaded.
