    Rifle 2.jpgRifle 1.jpgRifle 3.jpgRifle 4.jpg

Well, just picked up my new Colt LE6940 rifle, and just in time for rifle school on Monday. Paid $1260.00 out the door, best deal I could find anywhere. I will let you all know how she shoots come next week.

Now I am in need of suggestions for tacticool accessories. I want to get a HWS, sling, light, front grip etc. I am looking at an EoTech 553 and the new Crimson Trace MVF-515. Anybody have any reviews about those items? How about some suggestions from all you gun nuts.

    Thanks,

    Jim

Get a sling, good mags( re: pmags) and plenty of ammo first. Try looking for a used Aimpoint M2 in the classifieds on gun forums. Save some money and you can use it as a good base point for what works for you the best.

Can your wife come stay with me when she finds out how much you wasted on gun stuff??

Very nice! When I finally make it around to my first direct-impingement AR, the 6940 is my first choice.

+1 on the mags, sling, and ammo first. Those are the most important right off.

          Nice Toy!

I just ordered a new toy (well, not new, but a goody from oldies) today and hoping to receive it within next few days.

          Enjoy it!

looks nice!! i'm very jealous of you....

i agree with putting lots of trigger time on it to get used to it. i have an eotech and i really like it, simple point and shot, keeps a 0 really well and is basically bulletproof, plus looks badass

                Slings:

what experience/preference do you have with a sling? I like convertable slings, i.e. like the magpul sling where I can run it as a single point but convert to a 2-point should the need arise. I am not a fan of the current line of 3 point slings, and I haven't found a 2-point sling that I'm happy with.

                Flashlight

there are a lot of good options out there currently. Surefire, streamlight, etc. Don't go cheap on this. We are issued extra streamlight TLR-1 lights to put on our long guns. I have a surefire G2 in a VTAC mount on my personal AR and it is nice and bright. If I had the money I'd look at Surefire's scoutlight line.

                Foregrip

I've got mixed feelings on this one. I shoot "magpul" style, i.e. thumb wrapped over the top of the handguard so I really don't have a need for a foregrip. Having said that, I used on in the military and I didn't dislike them, and if they work for you have at it.

                Optics:

Take a look at Aimpoints Patrol Optic. It's designed for street cops. I'm issued an Eotech and I'm probably one of the few who havent had any issues with them. Almost all of our Eotechs shut off at the wrong time. The sight picture is also a little more "busy" than an aimpoint because of the larger outer ring around the dot. I personally prefer the aimpoint, but my eotech was free so I run with it.

Its the wife's gun, her birthday is next week and I bought this for her, but now she doesn't want it, so now I am stuck with it, . The offer still stands that you can take her off my hands, no questions asked.....fair trade.

I bought it from a guy in Kitzmiller, MD (Garrett County). Guy has a small gun shop/FFL but doesn't really advertise. The price he gave me is what he paid for the gun plus shipping. He barely made a dime on the transaction.

                  Can you recommend a sling?

In regards to optics/lights, here is what I was looking at with links:
                  http://www.eotech-inc.com/product.php?id=1&cat=1
                  http://www.crimsontrace.com/Home/Pro...3/Default.aspx

What do you (or anybody else) think of those two products. Can you provide a specific product?

I am by no means a gun guy so I will need all the help I can get. I have about an additional $1000.00 to put towards the coolness items so spend it like it was yours!!!!!

Like I said I really like the magpul sling. I've previously used a couple different 3-point sling both at work and in the military including slings from Blackhawk and Specter Gear. It's not that they are "bad" so to speak, it's just a personal preference thing.

Google "Aimpoint Patrol Optic." It's a good price for a good product. Like I said I really like Aimpoints.

As far as flashlights go Surefire really is top of the line. I really like the G2 as an entry level flashlight, but if I had to pick a new light for a duty rifle I'd look at some of their scout lights.

Oh okay then I dont feel as bad. Just wanted to know if this was an advertised sale or someoen doing a favor.

Good deal on a great weapon.

use the basics (it came with a sling). pick up more mags.

go through the rifle course as it will cover and allow some experience with the various types of slings, grips, flashlights (with / without switches), electronic sights, etc....

try someone rig with an aimpoint and then one with an Eotech (the two most popular ones out there).
try a rig with a foregrip
try a rig with a flashlight with / without a switch

it comes down to your training, personal preference and department policy (what a department will allow, etc.).... work from there and build YOUR rig without all the extra expense (buy aimpoint only to sell and get an Eotech - or other brand electronic dot / holographic sight),

oh yeah, pick up a rifle bag for the temporary storage / transport of your new toy.

                        ENJOY!

Nice Rifle. Check out Fenix TK15. They also have pressure pads if you're into those. Brightest light for the money.

Another plus for the Aimpoint Pro is the price-$400 including mount, not to mention the 3+ year battery life in a constant on state.

You are apparently new to Gun Porn Photography.

First, -5 points for floral pattern background.

You need to place your gun on a poncho, blanket, or Naked Coed for the photo. You should also place a random folding knife and flashlight next to it (These should be tactical as well. -more points for "Swiss army" type knives and snoopy flashlights)

Nice gun, but in this game, presentation is everything.
