  • Taurus 709 Slim

Anyone had anything to do with them? Tell me the good/bad. I got one and within the first 25 rounds or so the recoil spring started to bind up causing stove pipes. The problem would not let my slide cycle fully. Before I bought mine all the reviews I had read were all good. I'm not so sure now.

I did contact Taurus who has a great rep as far as fixing their stuff. But it should not be within the first 25 rounds.

Yates, where did you find positive reviews of the new Taurus 709 SLIM?

I would put another 300 rounds through it just to make sure. And then send it back to Taurus for repair. (Every Taurus owner goes through this, myself included)

      And/Or

Save up for a more reliable weapon. I hate it because they make some really nice designs but the QC just isn't up to par. Also, google "Taurus 709 Slim malfunctions" and see what you get.

Wise give me some time let me find them again and ill send them to you.

Drum Roast price has nothing to do with how reliable a product is. How many of us had malfunctions with the Kahr? I know Wise and myself had problems with them. My mag would not stay in the dang thing and thats why I sold mine and bought the 709 slim.

For now I'm just going with my Taurus 544 revolver. Hard to keep that thing from working.

It does when you compare Taurus with other gun manufacturers.

True, my Kahr had to go back to the factory, but now its good to go. I haven't had a malfunction since it came back...not one.

I guess you can send your Taurus back, and see if they can fix it?

                ***UPDATE***

Ok I sent my recoil spring to Taurus and they sent me a new one. I shot it this morning (100 rounds, all I had time for) and no problems at all (well it shoots low, but thats why it has adj sights). Looks like its my luck I get the only bad one that broke. Haha...

Wise I looked and looked but my history has since been erased. I know I read gunblast and saw it on Guns and Gear. I know I read about it on other sites, but I just dont know what sites for sure.

also when I was shooting my 709 our range master was telling me someone was shooting theit Kahr PM9 and their recoil spring broke...... Guess that goes to help my point I was making to Drum Roast...Anything can be broken, no matter the brand, price rep ect...

I stand by my statement. I'll let your 709 do the rest of the talking.

Well I've adjusted the sites and she shoots dead on now. I have also shot about 250 more rounds and no malfunctions.

It was most likely my Kahr he was talking about, and the recoil spring didn't exactly break. I messed it up when I was tinkering with it! The gun went back to Kahr, and came back shooting 100%.

While Kahr isn't necessarily known for reliability out of the box, once it gets going, it's hard to stop!
