I have a love/hate relationship with my little 1911. It has a good trigger pull, has been quite reliable after the break-in period, and is a lot of fun to shoot. It has, however, had some problems in the six months I've owned it. I've fixed most of the problems, but the weapon shot quite low. I nearly shaved the front sight off entirely trying to raise the point of impact.
I got in touch with Armscor USA customer service who asked me to send it in. No problem! Since fixing the low-shooting problem would mean my front sight would be far too short, I bought a set of Meprolight night sights. The smith offered to install those for $50. Not covered by the warrantee, so no big deal.
I just got a mail back from him. He detailed a lot of work done to the firearm, asked me for my mailing address, and mentioned that the front sight lamp no longer glows. Would I like him to paint it with something that glows in the dark?
...
No. I don't want to put my pistol under a lamp for six hours to make it glow at night! Guy broke the night sight and that was his proposed solution.
Anyhow. I sent him a message back. We'll see how it plays out. I just had to vent.
