I've been looking for a new holster for my Les Baer 1911, but was not ready to spend the money on the one I really wanted. I was almost ready to just buy a $50-60 holster for now, and wait on the nice leather rig after I convinced my wife I really "needed" it!
Well, a got a call from a buddy of mine, who had recently sold off his non-railed 1911. He just so happened to have a very nice Rafter S Gunleather 1911 OWB holster and double mag holder.

He and I worked out an arrangement, and I was able to bring them home.
I really like the quality of the construction, although I would have chosen different color/trim scheme if I were to have the choice. The leather is cowhide, and the color is dark brown with red trim. The trim leather is elephant, which has a nice texture.

My choice would have been cordovan horsehide body (Rafter S only offers cowhide) and black alligator trim (to match my black alligator belt/boots), but that would require a custom order.
And that's what brings me to the rub... Rafter S Gunleather once enjoyed a reputation for offering quality gunleather at a reasonable (if not economic) price. They represented the best "deal" in the holster world. However, they now have experienced the speed at which you can lose your good reputation, and become despised. They have charged credit cards weeks and months before delivery (against their posted policy), and numerous customers have requested charge-backs from the credit card company, canceling their orders with Rafter S from all the bad customer service (or lack thereof).
So, if you can find one in person, or on the secondary (used) market, I would highly suggest them. However, don't bother placing an order with them until they get their business model straightened out...
I must say, the wood grips on the Baer do look VERY good with the burgundy trim of the holster!
