  • XS Sights: Anyone use them?

I understand a few things about these sights from different reviews:

    1. Target shooters don't like them (big dot covers the target at range).
    2. Rumor/myth has it they are not good for distances beyond 15 yards (not confirmed...unknown user error).
    3. Others swear by them for faster target acquisition for defensive purposes (makes sense given the rear sight).

I am looking at putting a set of the XS 24/7 on my XDm .40 as my duty gun, and was wanting some input from those who have used them.

Shot placement > caliber. Using a .45ACP means nothing if you can't hit your target. Practice, train, and do it all over again...and again...and again.

I have a friend who has a Glock 21 and put them on it. He's getting old and wanted something that would make it easier for his old eyes. He loves them.

I shot it and I loved them too, up close and at distance. I started off as a target shooter, so that's my first thought when checking sights out. I'm a cop but still find my self going back to the target shooting ways. The sights are great and quick. I would put them on my duty weapon but love the ones that are on my Springfield 1911. You will not be disappointed.

    Hope that helps CSIBPD
    I trust my life with J. M. Browning's design, the 1911.

I have them on all my guns and no site is as fast to get a site picture. They are designed to do what they do, and they do it better then anything I have used. For slow fire target shooters, makes no sense to use them, so it's a moot issue in my view. You can also make up your own set up that works best for you. On my CCW gun I have the standard rear and front sites, but on my IDPA, range, course, etc gun, I have the XS smaller front site with a Yost Bonitz rear site. Works very well for me.

They are amazingly fast. I just could not qualify with my Colt Defender past 10-15 yards, so I left the front sight on, and put my factory rear back on the slide.

They're not all they're cracked up to be on a 3" barreled gun.
