what is a form 4473? will the gun shop give it to me

  • #2
Form 4473 is the initial form you fill out in order to purchase a firearm. I guess you have to ask the dealer for a copy of it when you get the Sig.

Yes, you must ask the dealer for a copy, as they have to retain that form in their records. Explain why you want a copy and they should be fine with making you one to take home.

I got a copy of my 4473 when I used SIGs officer rebate program last year. No problems.

I don't understand. This is for their P220, P226, P229, 1911, P556, and Sig 556 rifles, but to redeem the $200, it gives the following instructions:

The Sig Classic is the new version of the Sig 556 rifle with the folding stock. So you have to buy a Classic AND another pistol/rifle, or is it just a typo, and the proof of purchase is required for whichever qualifying model Sig you buy? But then, that would be redundant with the 4473...

I might be very wrong here, but I understand the "P" pistol series (P226, P228, etc.) to also be known as the "Sig Classic" series.

Do you consider the Sig 1911 to be part of the "Classic" description?

Try a google search including "Sig Classic" and see what comes up...
