  • Opinions on concealed carry systems

Hey all, I'm looking at picking up a few concealed carry systems for work, mainly with comfort and ease of use in mind. I also will be getting 3 different systems for different clothing....from business attire to casual clothing. Let me know what you think of these choices and experiences with any that you have!!!

    Galco Sky-ops

    5.11 Tac Shirt

    Spec-Gear Truss X-draw
    http://www.specgear.com/trusspics.html

I am also looking for some concealed mag and cuff holsters to use when carrying in the Galco holster....any suggestions??

    Thanks all!

I've heard so many good things about the Crossbreed SuperTuck, that would be my IWB choice. BTW, Crossbreed also makes an IWB mag holster.

I like the look of the 5-11 shirt, but it looks like it could get a little expensive if you need to have a few changes in the closet. I don't believe I'll ever opt for a belly band.

When it's possible to use a cover shirt, I prefer wearing an OWB holster.

Another one to consider is www.smartcarry.com

I have worn all three in formal environments. You will not be made if you wear those and blouse out your shirt a bit.

That's only if nobody puts their arm around ya. Went over to my 95yo neighbors and she gives me a neighborly hug and her hand landed right on the grip. She says, "What's that?" I just smiled and she says. "I know".

Just an idea if you go this route. I own a CTAC and had a local holster maker put a thin, waterproofed leather backing on as a body shield. It helped to make it quite a bit more comfortable.

I have tried belly bands and they get hot! Atleast the one i had did. I also carry the Comp-tac c-tac. I also have a crossbread. The leather makes it a little harder to draw. I don't carry the gun for the crossbread much but it is a nice holster.

I think you will get made with any of the holsters listed if you get a hug in the right place. Now if you get made wearing thunderwear....

Isn't that the point of the MTAC these days?

Yeah, but I picked up a CTAC cheap off of a clearance table.

What kind of "work" do you do?

I would stay away from the belly band or the 5.11 shirt for most things. The 5.11 shirt would probably good for exercise or a "deep cover" option, but would suck for quick access/

Unless quick on/off is the paramount feature I would choose a different holster than the Sky-Ops. I carry my Combat Commander in a Galco Combat Master. It's a great rig, but it's an OWB design. It would be an excellent choice for a sport coat.

My daily carry is a Desatis Cozy Partnet IWB. It works with just about anything I wear.

Ah. Well I don't blame you at all, these things can start to get pricy. Especially when you start getting 2, 3, 4 holsters to try to achieve the fit and comfort level right, that's a fat wad of cash right there.

Just keep in mind that the more places you routinely carry your weapon, means the more places you are going to be patting yourself trying to remember where it is when you really need it. Sounds stupid, but I am not kidding.

I have the 5.11 shirt and it is okay. Mine is the first gen so there are some things that needed some changing. The velcro on the pocket needs to be changed. It is not strong enough to hold a Glock 26. Also you have to get deep to get a grip on your weapon. It is very comfortable and hides your weapon. I am not sure if they upgraded or changed anything but a decent shirt.
