  • Eye Dominance

At the range today my eye dominance was changing on me. It started after a few mags of both left and right hand shooting. After I got home I seemed to recall someone saying focus on the target with one eye and with the other focus on the front sight. If this is correct, how do you accomplish that?

    negative.

determine which is your dominant eye and stick with it. more than likely what you were experiencing is eye fatigue.

with iron sights, focus on the front sight. if you shoot with both eyes open then you are still focusing on the front sight, but you are relaxing the weak side eye and just letting it do it's thing.

If you use 1x optics, then run both eyes open and focus on the target.

Magnified optics are a different deal.

If you are having problems, close the non-dominant eye.

Thanks Blackdog! I was talking to my daughter about that today and she had the same problem when she was in the Army and they told her the same thing.

You may want to really find out which eye is dominate. There are a few people out there that are equal but the vast majority is one or the other. Stick with what works.

Thanks! That's some great info. I'll be printing it out to study.
