I am currently testing it for our department. It provides excellent evidence in cases and protects against false complaints.

My Sheriff's Office uses them on the road. There have been no problems and no complaints so far...been in use maybe 6 months.

Good picture, but the recorder, being on the microphone, isn't really directed like you would with a camera, so you get a pan of the area in a lot of instances. But an aware Deputy will know where to point the thing with his shoulder.

They're also good for looking around corners.

I think im just going to start wearing a helmet cam and hire a kid from the HS AV Club to follow me around with a boom mic---that should cover all the bases.

My Sgt. is friends with Earhugger's owner and our department has a relationship with them (our officers are the models on most of their products, gay huh? )

I field tested one of the prototypes a while back. I don't know how they've improved since then. The video did not do too well at night, and I did not like how big it was. Daytime video and audio quality were very good, and the video was fairly easy to transfer. I did not care for the interface software, but it worked.

1. one year warranty from my Aust stockist, most likley same overseas
2. Rain is not good for it as it is not water proof, but it is rain resistant. had mine recording while raining and footage had a water drop on lens.
3. windows vista and below
4. recharges from wall or usb. battery last about 10hrs on standby, can record for 3hrs so battery will last that long plus a little more when recording. I top mine up every 2 days or so.
Will work with most radios as the unit comes with a separate cord that can have different adaptors.

The way the vidmic is connected to your shirt has a lot to do with the footage quality as well. I have been making some proto-types that clip on near my shoulder to limit the movement of the cam.
The footage is a lot better (clearer)

Gets in the way of the seat belt, and it also puts the speaker to far away from your ear, meaning you have to turn it up too loud and the grubs can hear you a mile away. Also, you can't hear it on the side of a busy road, mind you that spot gives very good positioning camera wise, but not audio.

Guys at my department who tried it out did not have the seatbelt problem. Our test units also had a place where you could plug in an earpiece, so no biggie on the noise either.

First I thought that those have to be carbage but those policeone videos were pretty neat! But man that reporter acted dum in the second clip. Whats his problem? Dyskinesia?

And I sure hope officer Jason Morons hands aren't in his pockets in the third video at 1:04!
