I carry an Emerson in my offside pocket so I guess I can "talk" someone into letting go of my duty weapon with that. It just pulls me either way because SO many what if quesitons go through my head. Thanks for helping me out everyone.

My carry location is in the plate pocket of my vest right in the middle.

Take the seams and rip the stiching halfway down then replace with velcro.

When you need the gun its as simple as ripping the buttons and then pulling down on the pocket tearing away the velcro - the gun is nestled in there nicely and you can grab it with either hand that is free.

I carry a KAHR PM9 so it lays extremely lat - A G27 would stick out a touch bit more but you don't notice it all that much - even less when you wear your tie.

I carry a Glock 27 for a BUG week side on my vest. My back up is for primary weapon failure, which is why a carry the G27 (will accept and fire G22 mags). If I was to carry a BUG for weapons retention I'd choose a smaller weapon the G27 and a more accessible location. If I need a weapon for gun grab scenarios, ill use my knife.

use your weak hand, why? Think about duty gun retention... you use your stong hand to hold it, that way you can get to your BUG with your weak hand, and if you think deadly force is not an option, if he gets that gun, your dead, not him...

So I got one of those 5.11 BUG holsters, and with the vest I have there just isn't a place for it. The velcro is too low on the vest and the straps dont come around far enough (the vest fits though). Oh well, until I figure something out the BUG will just have to stay in the glove box.

Oh and I'd recommend carrying your BUG so that it's accessible with your weak hand. Think about it...you might very well get shot in your strong hand, lose your gun, and need your BUG. Making it easy to draw with your weak hand works great in that scenario. And in the event that your strong hand is still in the fight, it only takes a split second to switch the gun into that hand after drawing it with your weak hand.

5.11's Holster Pouch (part of their Backup Belt System) is awesome as a BUG holster. It comes with the holster and a big sturdy rectangle of Velcro that sticks right to your vest carrier. Oh...and they're cheap!

    Bug?

What is your BUG and where did you find a holster for it? I have been looking for one myself but haven't had much luck.

Personally, I plan on carrying it on my left side so I can draw with my strong hand.

carrying it cross draw on your weak side for use with your gun hand is the most logical. If you're worried about being able to access it w/ either hand get an ankle holster.

started a topic Vest holster placement

    Vest holster placement

I've been racking my brain on this and still haven't came up with a possible answer. I bought a vest holster and dont know which side to put it on. Ive been thinking that I would want it on my right side to draw with my left hand just in case someone reaches for my weapon I can still control my duty weapon and if need be draw my BUG. But also I was thinking of putting it on my left side to draw with my right just in case my duty weapon is out of commision all together. What do you guys think?
