5.11 has gone cheap!

Hello all,

I regularly wear my 5.11 tactical shorts and the original tactical pants, both of which I ordered about a year ago. Well when I saw LAPolicegear.com running a sale I decided to pick up some more. I ordered, get them in, notice a difference. They're of a different material and made just a little differently. They don't even fit like my original 5.11's! What in the world...? So I investigate a bit and notice that instead of being built in Cambodia like the originals the new set are made in China!

Has 5.11 sold out to the lowest possible bidder? I plan on sending these back as they are horrible.

As usual, I'm going to stick with Dickies brand khaki cargo pants... Available at every Walmart...

You sure you bought the oringinal 5.11.....? They came out with a new material last year or so.....and are selling it along with the oringal ones.....

The original is made out of cotton....new stuff is made from nylon....

I used 5.11 gear in the academy for my fatigue uniform. Fantastic durability on my BDU's, which hardly appear to have been worn at all.

I'll be pretty disappointed if they've gone cheap, because they offer some good products.

I used to work for Chief Supply, and 5.11 was a major supplier and a line that we pushed a lot. It's great products and all of the samples and stuff we had at our warehouse were nothing less than outstanding.

I just got a pair of 5.11 pants. I like the comfort, but can say that the stitching is already coming apart after two wears. Im not a huge guy, and did not stretch the pants out or anything. Kinda upset in the quality. Maybe the ones i ordered were a defect....

What's original? I've got a pair of 5.11 pants, a few years old, that were sewn in Mongolia. Other 5.11 products in my closet originated in Viet Nam, Hong Kong, and Indonesia.

Of course they're looking for the lowest possible bidder, that's how they make a profit.
