  • Safariland Hardwire Body Armor

Is anyone using the safariland hardwire armor? 68 or 74. I'm currently in the academy for PPD and its almost time to buy body armor. We had a class on body armor and the instructor recommended it but also said it kind of forms to your body after it breaks in.
I've also heard its a little stiff when bending over.
Unfortunately no stores have any full vests with it to try on and it's a 4 month back order. They only have samples, it is super light and strong which I love. A little pricey but its my life so I don't care about that.

Anyone currently running this? I'd love some real world experience.

Oh, also ill be getting it cut for an exterior carrier..if that's what you want to call it. PPD currently has a very disappointing outer carrier policy hopefully it'll change eventually and we will get better options. Anything outer is better in 120 degree weather though.

120 degrees? Where are you in hell? You paying for your own armor? If not don’t worry about the price.
Where'd you learn that, Cheech? Drug school?

Yep, it's awesome! Very thin/light and stops a crazy amount of rounds. I have a contact if you'd like his info? Mine took 2 months, but it was also during the time Harvey hit their facility. I paid $1,200 for two panels, two concealable carriers, hard trauma plate and a rifle plate.

It's stiff when it comes, but I just wore it and now I can hardly tell it's on.

I wear the 68 since I wear mine concealed, the 74 is for external I was told.

        Hey Sir,

Will you PM me your contact’s info? I’m looking to move to a IIIA vest and the Safariland/Hardwire 68 definitely caught my interest. Thanks in advance!
