Ok my first choice vest has some zylon in it, it's not like the second chance ultra or whatever they were called that were made 100% out of zylon but instead a small percentage and it's interwoven into it.
Now the gov. is saying anything with some zylon might fail. But it seems that the issue is they degrade faster than the 5 year standard warranty. Does anyone have any idea what the "safe" amount of time to wear them while they will still hold up? I'm about to go full time with my department so I'll have the option of being issued a new vest that has no zylon in it, but my vest is less than a year old.
Of the guys with zylon in your vests, what are your plans in regards to it?
