When I retired in 97, they were using nylon holsters/belts, and Glocks (another reason I was glad I retired). We had been using S&W 6906 (12 shot 9mm) for investigators (Special Agents), and the same gun in Double Action only for uniformed inspectors. S/A's could carry about any Double Action 9mm or larger, so I carried my SIG 220 in 45 ACP. I was working on an Indian REservation, and some of those Indians were BIG boys.
We had 12 ga. Remington 807's with 14" barrels, and Styer AUGs (5.56) in 3 shot burst. Some guys had MP5's in 9mm.
