  • Does any one own Tru Spec or Vertx pants?

I am looking for something different then 5.11 when it comes to BDU style (Tactical) pants. I have heard a lot of good things about Tru Spec 24/7 Tactical pants. I have also heard a few good things about Vertx pants. I am leaning more towards Tru Spec. I wanted to know if anyone as any experience with Tru Spec or Vertx.

    Thanks.

I just ordered some vertex Lt pants and should be getting them by the end of the week, if not tomorrow. I read good reviews about them and will be wearing them for PT in the Academy. I got them for a few reasons, one the elastic in the waistband for good movement and comfort and also for the wicking aspect for the hot Texas summer heat along with the streamlined flat cargo pockets. I wish I could give you a review of them but I thought I would give my opinion since I don't have them yet.

I wear Tru Spec uniforms for SWAT and I own one of the first versions of the Vertx pants. Between the two, I would pick Tru Spec for overall quality. The Vertx pants are nice, but I had issues with fading, especially where I clipped things like knives or flashlights, or where my duty belt rubbed.

I have several vertx pants and love them. The quality and comfort is exceptional in my opinion. No experience with tru spec but a buddy has a pair and likes them.

          I have had both.

I thought the Tru-Spec pants were some of the most comfortable I had ever worn. Maybe even THE most comfortable. Unfortunately, their life-span was horrible. After less than 4 months, rips started appearing at certain stress points, like where the pockets are sewn on.

I wear Vertx now. The major drawback is that they are considerably more expensive than Tru-Spec or anything else out there. But otherwise, they're tough, comfortable, and don't scream "law enforcement" every time you put them on. I've been rotating 4 pairs for the last 8 months and haven't seen any serious wear to any of them. Other than getting some oil stains on one pair that wouldn't come out (my fault), all are still good to go.

As far as cost, I've noticed frequent specials on Vertx pants at various retailers - mainly LAPolice Gear. So no one really needs to pay full price if they look around a bit, anyway.

We wear Tru-Spec on the swat team. No issues. I also have some of the LAPolicegear BDU's that are pretty comfortable.

Not a huge fan of tru-spec. They start to fade quicker then they should. I would suggest trying out Propper BDU pants or the new Blauer BDU pants. Both are really nice! I wear Propper alot off duty. Very durable and very strong. Just my opinion though.

My issued uniform pants are Tru-spec 24/7 in navy and they are comfortable and durable. Rotating four pairs and no signs of wear or fading

Wear Tru-spec everyday. They are not bad. We recently tried Propper gear as a test and I liked them a lot better. For around the same price give them a shot.

I have a pair of tru spec's and some poppers that I wear on the flight deck. Plenty tough. Fading may be more of an issue to you that it is to me, though. For my LE duties, I am still wearing green polyester, so no experience on the LE side with that.
