  • X26 secondary cartridge clip?

Anyone know where I can find one? I saw a guy with one (the kind that holds an extra cartridge right on the DPM) but I didn't have a chance to ask him where he got it. Did an internet search but could only find ones for the M models.

The ones on the DPMs are called like XDPMs or somthing like that? Its just an extended DPM with a clip on it to hold an extra cartridge. I have one, but I never keep a cartridge clipped to it..

We got the XDPM's when we ordered our X26 TASERs.

Thanks! I wanted a convenient place to keep a spare cartridge that wasn't going to take up more room on my belt. The holster it came with could hold 2 extra but it was in a very awkward and space consuming location.

I've heard problems with them because they are not protected in anyway and the blast doors break easily. A local agency had them and got rid of them because blast doors were breaking and they were throwing out perfectly good cartridges.

I have one on mine, and found it to be useless thus far. It makes it bulkier, and as stated above, its not protected from the elements, rain, dirt, ect.

I do like it however without the cartridge, I feel that I have a better grip on it, as it exstends it some.

Go ahead and buy a pouch for that taser cartridge. I came onto the job the same time as four other guys. All of them clip the extra cartridge on the taser cam. three of those guys have had their blast doors crack open.

Not me. I keep that sucker in a pouch on my belt.

We have them on our X26s but are NOT allowed to carry one in it any longer, as there have been unintented discharges of the cartridges carried in that manner due to static charge build-up as users walk across carpeted areas or in other static-causing situations. I find, however, that the extra length, even without a cartridge, gives me a better grip on the weapon.

We replaced those batteries with the flush-fitting one at my agency. There was a problem with braking the power contact when too much leverage was applied the the extended end of the unit.

                    PeteBroccolo,

Taser fixed that accidental discharge problems with the XDPM by adding a metal grounding strip into the XDPM.

All newer XDPMs should have the silver strip of metal inside, if it does it will NEVER static discharge with the extra cartridge attached.

I agree in that having the extra cartridge exposes it to damage, I've lost a blast door but the newer cartridges you can reattach them easily back on.

I now have the XDPM for better gripping of the taser but do not carry the extra cartridge there. I have a clip on extra pouch I sometimes wear or keep in the console of my tahoe.

Just a friendly FYI - TASER says to send any cartridges in to them that have had the blast doors knocked off and to NOT attempt reattaching them. I know cops will do what cops do, but just wanted you to know the "official word".

                      Carry on.

                        Sgt.,

Thanks....I should know better I am an instructor and I advise pursuant to taser to do that exact thing and send it back..however I do demonstrate to the class that they can be re-attached.

A master instructor actually did this in our instructor class so I show it as well. I also show the pics of the not so happy people who have probes in their hands and fingers for mishandling a taser cartridge.

Again, as Sgt., said PLEASE SEND ANY DEFECTIVE CARTRIDGE BACK TO TASER FOR REPLACEMENT, DO NOT TAMPER OR TRY AND REPAIR IT YOURSELF.

                        Thanks,

Hmmm. Perhaps I should look into getting a thigh holster? I need to free up some space. The vest carriers we can get can have a taser pouch, but there is no retention other than a velcro strap.

I recently got the X26 issued. We got the regular blade-tech holster with it, but instead of the spare cartridge holder that they issued, I bought pouches on line from a company called TUFF. They have the pouch mounted to the belt keeper, so that it doesn't really take up any extra space and matches the rest of my equipment. I've used them for about a month now, and so far, so good.
