What do you all think about the Epoxy Monadnock PR24? Give me some feedback, I would love to hear what you all sound off about!
    Thanks,
    Al

This doesn't come from my law enforcement experience, but from back when I was a security guard. I got trained on the PR-24 and carried one. Never used it, but trained with it, especially on a heavy bag pretty frequently. I had both an original PR-24AL aluminum model and a PR-24STS molded polycarbonate. The poly baton transferred a lot of vibration to the hand and didn't feel like it transferred as much force. The AL felt more solid.

Never heard of an epoxy version. I have had the original, with the side handled screwed on, the aluminum, the one-piece polycarbonate, and the expandable aluminum.

Our guys are allowed thwe PR-24, but they'rs no longer issued, and you have to seek out your own training. Same with the OPN.

All we get is our choice of ASP.

I would love to carry one. Especially for crowd control.

I still have my aluminum side handle baton, with rotating sleeve, rubber condom on the short section, and the infamous "yawa".....

There is more truth to this than you can imagine.

I had to carry (or not) the PR24 for 5 years and it is the biggest waste of time for patrol use you can imagine. It's to big and bulky to carry on your belt, especially if you have to run. When carried it gives that Rodney King image which I would imagine most agencies would try to avoid.
The training for this thing is so stupid we usually laugh through it. They teach you how to do these maneuvers that are impractical and impossible to replicate without having a willing subject.

Over the last 2 years I changed agencies and now carry the Monadnock 22" expandable baton. It's more mobile, easier to deploy, very effective, and most importantly...

Officers will actually carry it on them and not leave it in their car.

For crowd control, the 36" straight stick seems to be the preferred tool.

I have carried one for years (now have the collapsable metal-not sure of the model) and it sits in a swivel holster. Love it, short, concise and quick although the ol' taser comes out a lot quicker than the baton.

Which do you prefer? The Aluminium or the exp. Alumin.? What are the makes and models? What do you think of the Monandock PR 24 expand.?
                        Thanks!
