  • Budjet cuts M26

We are considering the purchase of some M26 tasers (I carry the x26 but you know the cost) and have to carry the tasers in a cross-draw (by policy) on our gun belts. Everything aside any comments on holsters?

    Thanks

    The M26 is really big.

    Enjoy.

One of our guys carries it in a drop rig from blackhawk, all the officers that carry them use the blade tech paddle that they came with, most of the skinny officers dont carry it at all.

        .
I'll second that. I carry one, and it is quite large.

If you have carried the X26 and are switching to the M26 be prepared for the delayed trigger. It is not instantaneous like the X26's are. I personally hated the M26. Never carried it but we did our training and qualification in the academy with the M26. Just couldn't get use to pulling the trigger and nothing happening immediately.

Thanks, we are trying to at least get as many Deputies out there carrying "something" instead of waiting and paying the 900.00. Don't know if it is going to fly with SO-1 but we are going to try. I have an X26 so I won't be giving up mine.....don't hate the player.....

              thanks all.

If you issue the M26 vs X26 you'll have a harder time with maintenance, downloads and replacement parts. TASER is pushing the X26 and obviously the new X3 and they don't have the large amount of replacement parts for the M26 anymore. Technology has come a long way since the M series.

I recommend checking with them for grant recommendations or alternate funding sources so you can get X26's.

While I'll admit I'm good, I didn't realize I'd risen to the level of sainthood.

                    And you're welcome.

Now, this will sound like I'm kidding but I'm not....

Has anyone looked into the C2 ? It's from Taser, has the same capabilities as the other two models and retails for $350.00. I use it as a security guard. It has a 15 cable and a 30 second timer which can be stopped at any time by hitting the safety cover...

Taser originally made them for the general public but they started marketing to the private security sector..

Don't take my word for it, go the their website and see for yourself.

The C2 does NOT have all the capabilities of the M26 or the X26. It's designed and marketed for women to carry in their purse. There aren't duty holsters designed for it; according to a couple women I've spoken to who have them the hood cover is a PITA; there's only 1 cartridge; it's not technology upgradeable and a department can't do their own downloads from that device; there isn't even a training program for that device.

DO NOT get a C2 for PD use.

                          It works fine for me.

Mrs. Gonzo likes hers and my mother in law who's arthritic had no prob. with the safety cover.

The "Tasee's" don't seem to know the difference...

And extra cartridges are always available.

and Tuff Products came out with a duty holster..

I still wouldn't recommend it for duty use - even with a new holster.

It's like the OP said something is better than nothing.. Others posted the two choices, I just presented what I believe to be a viable third option.

Besides, I think Taser discontinued the M/18 or 26 as of April. I read that on the proforce website..
