  • What flashlights do you use?

    Hi all,

Please post the lights you use on duty below. Just curious how many officers carry backup lights and what lights are most polular. List the different lights you have on you or in the car and where you keep each one....Thanks!! (school Project)

If your not a sworn officer/Deputy please note that. Thanks!

    Stinger.......
This profession is not for people looking for positive reinforcement from the public. Very often it can be a thankless job and you can't desire accolades, because those are not usually forthcoming. Just do your job to the best of your ability and live with the decisions you've made.

Since I work days, I carry a Surefire E1B Backup at all times and a Pelican 7060 (LAPD) Light in my Go Bag. If I work OT Swings or Graveyard, I carry a Pelican 8060. Either way, the Surefire E1B is always on me.

I did the very same thing but with local officers and my results were interesting.

Streamlight Stingers and Ultrastingers were the unanimous choice (almost all were department issued). And many officers didn't have personally-owned lights nor even back-up lights.

I only ran across a couple Surefires and one Blackhawk/Night-Ops light.

            Surefire 6p

Has worked great for me for some time. Batteries are pretty inexpensive. I do not use it as often as others may - I suppose that is why I don't mind the battery replacement vs having a charger. Staff here is split - some with Streamlights... others with Surefire.

I was just about to buy a Blackhawk Gladius until I checked the forums (of course!!) now I am very interested in FENIX, I really think you get alot more light for the price. I want to get the TA21 but am unsure of what kind of holster it will fit in since it doesn't come with one and want to wear it on my duty belt.

Is that going to be a back up light or a primary light??

I'm assuming it's a backup. In which case I would suggest a TK11 instead as it's smaller and just a bright.

Surefire and Streamlight are good lights but not nearly the best out there for the price. (Although I use Surefire's X300 weaponlight).

Prior to looking at that site I thought Streamlight and Maglight were the good lights...
