fp,
I've had the PointBlank MRV-CT tactical carriers for a few years now. I kept one for patrol/high risk calls, and another one next to my shotgun for home defense. It holds standard concealable vest panels (front and back) and is a front opening vest without a gap where it zips, there are also ceramic plate pounches front and back and can be ordered with or without snap/velcro grid for modular arrangement of ammo and utility pouches.
The design is basically that of a swat type vest- complete with a small foam collar (I had a custom ballistic collar added onto it by another company) and a rescue dragstrap on the back.
MRV-CT carriers are made to VERY SHORT lengths because they pattern the carrier to the exact length of your concealable panels. (as to not bind at the waist when crouched over or while sitting) So if you order one you need to add at least 3-4 inches of measurement for length (neck to navel), that way it looks, feels, and fits properly.Leave a comment:

The one from armor shield is not a front opening vest after all. im still on the hunt for one sos if anyone has a brand name I would much apreciate it. ThanksLeave a comment:

The ones we have overlap in the front. There's also a pouch for a trauma plate, I'm not sure exactly where it attaches, as I don't have one of the new ones yet.Leave a comment:

thanks APD. I was thinking about the front panel being one piece or in two parts as well now that you mentioned it FLASHAHOLIC. I found a company called ArmorShield that advertises a front opening one. I'm about to call them to see if it accepts standard panelsLeave a comment:

A couple of our officers are using them now. They really like them. They are much cooler than vests under the uniform, and they have held up better than out previous outer vest carriers that opened on the sides. (The velcro was getting worn out)
They zipper in the front, but there is an overlap of material so there is no gap in ballistic protection. But, no trauma plate. They will not accept standard ballistic panels from another vest.
I'll get a brand later.Leave a comment:

I'm not sure how that would work. If it's a carrier for standard ballistic panels, wouldn't the front panel have to be in two parts?Leave a comment:

Front Opening Vest Carrier
Has anyone ever run across a front zipper opening style outer vest carrier. I have a side opening kind like the ones from JG Uniforms. But id like a front opening one that zips in the front like a coat. ThanksTags: None
