  • Trust me, I know how the waiting game goes. I took my panel in September of 2008. Got dropped on the medical two weeks later. Now I'm back at square one, just don't have to take the test and boards again.

Any f-ing time sweetheart! Just walk out the door!" I had to wait outside for maybe 5 minutes but it felt like 5 hours and then when I came back in they kept the look going until they said I had passed. Then they were all smiles and cool as hell. Just take your time and answer truthfully.
Lol. Dude I swear I felt the same way man. They just gave me that cold, dark stare. Then they would try to get inside your head and get you to change your answers. It was not fun at all. I was soooooo nervous before as well. I had that sick feeling in my stomach b/c I had no idea what they were going to ask me. I can easily say that was the most stressful interview of my life thus far but for good reason b/c they need to weed out the ones who can't cope with the stress. They said that they would contact me for my 1st PT test which I am excited for and hopefully won't take too long to schedule but I hear that it will take awhile before I hear anything.

      • Question about the med/pft part. I got to go in this tuesday for that stuff. Now I have been having some knee problems for awhile, and i finally went to the doctor to get it taken care of and he referred me to an orthopedic specialist for further treatment. It won't prevent me for completing any part of the pft, there might be some pain, but its nothing that I can't deal with. Its not a serious problem, I just want to get it fixed now so years from now it doesnt become a bigger problem. My question is should I let the doctors who examine me know about it. I dont want to get medically disqualified or have the process stalled. If I do make it through the whole process and get hired, my knee problems should be taken care of by then. So anyone with some insight let me know what you think i should do. Thanks.
You broke the law, now the law breaks you.

        • Can anyone tell me if the panel interview is a structured format or an open format? For example are the interviewers only allowed to read questions, or is it a more personal interview? Thank you for any advice.

          • I agree, BPA OB was one of the most stressful/challenging interviews I have ever had.

You'll just have to wait and see brother! It's part of the fun. I'll quote one of my favorite movies. "He's liable to ask you some direct questions. Give him direct answers. Tell him what you think."

I think the reason I was so stressed out was it meant so much to me. A year later I was sitting in an interview for a local correctional officer position and I was like "This is nothing, people are smiling while they ask me questions." Best advice I can give is watch Border Wars, read as much as you can about the Border Patrol, and look professional when you get there. Knowing what you're getting into will help.

Also bear in mind that you need to put on your serious gameface when you walk step out of your vehicle. There may be BPAs in the parking area, they'll probably be in the lobby, and they are most likely watching you. You're impression starts when they first lay eyes on you. Take this time to catch up with your fellow applicants and they aren't hard to find, they're the guys in business suits who look like they're going to crap themselves. Good opportunity to network with some of your fellow candidates. Maybe you can turn them on to boards like this and honorfirst. You're all in this together. Good luck.

              • Thanks for the advice Borstars. I actually found the answer on cbp.gov. I did an OB for ICE SA position and passed, so I'm hoping I'll pass this as well once I get to that point.

                    • asthma?

What is the border partrol's policy on a recruit who has sports enduced asthma?

Is an inhaler permissible in the academy?

Im at a catch 22 right now because I definetly have it, but I don't want to train with an inhaler right now if I'm not going to be allowed to bring it in the academy.

I already stated that I had passed my OB so do you know how long it will take for them to contact me for my 1st PT test or no?

                          • Does anyone on here know if the Border Patrol or Customs and Border Protection requires a psych test as part of the pre-employment process? I didn't see anything mentioned about a psych test.
