Don't give up. From start of my BI until it was complete was something like 11 months. Keep in shape and in time it will come around

      • Don't lose hope. I see some places that it can take a year or more. I just keep telling myself: I've waited this long, I can wait another month. And it's always true. So far at least.

You know its really strange....I hear diffrent waiting storys all the time. I've heard of people waiting 2-3 months and then their forms got into TSU. And I also hear people waiting 7-12 months and they don't hear anything. This process is going pretty quick. Lets see how long I have to wait for

            • Does anyone know how long it usually takes for an application to complete the final review once all pre-employment requirements have been completed?

I'm not talking on behalf of the hiring center but after all the pre-employment requirements have been completed it took them about 2 months for the application to go inot final review and have a BI contact me. That's just from my expiernce. It could be diffrent for you.

I have already had a BI contact me, and a full clearance was issued this week. That was the last step of my application I was waiting for. Once the background cleared, that was when CASS states my file was under final review.

Ray says, "So, here is what this office is doing. Regardless of your Geographic Preference we are going to call everyone in the order in which they reached our office. They will be told that this is what we have available, and if we can give two options for duty stations we will, but if we can’t the applicant will get the location where we have been mandated to get people to.

IF for some reason this doesn’t satisfy someone and they complain we are not offering them their area of preference we will set them aside for 90 days, IF in that 90 days we get something to fill in their area of preference we will call back with one final offer. If at the end of 90 days we don’t get something in their area of preference they will get one more call with a final offer. If they choose not to take the offer their file will be closed. They will have to reapply whenever the announcement opens again.

We have 16,000 plus people in process for the Border Patrol Agent position. Based on our numbers and analysis we have enough people in process to fill the remainder of the slots for this Fiscal Year and pretty much all of what is projected for next year. If we loose more people to declination than we are projecting the announcement could reopen but when it does the selections may be down to a specific test score. What that means is, if we only need to put 500 people in process we pull names from the register until we reach 500 applicants. This could mean that we only pull people that scored 95 or above.

At the moment the area of concentration is in West Texas/New Mexico. This means the Marfa Sector, number one priority to fill, the Del Rio Sector and the El Paso Sector.

We have been more than generous with California and Arizona this year and have over filled some of their locations so we need to people leave position before we go back to placing people in those areas.

Northern Border positions we will begin filling once we have enough cleared to warrant calls for that area. At this time I have 250 slots to fill at various locations up there. As usual we will do our best to honor the preference, but note it is only a preference."

P.S. Just called MHC and individual I talked to could not confirm the infomation.

This is really bad news for me! I met with my BI investigator almost 2 months ago and he told me that everything was good and to expect a call soon with an academy date. Last Friday I get a call from an Investigator from Puerto Rico saying that they were still working on it. Apparently the investigators in PR dropped the ball and never finished. So now I'm still waiting for 2 more people to get interviewed. My enlistment is over in June and if I don't get an academy date by then, I might have to just re-enlist. I spoke to MHC a while back and explained my situation to them. They were very helpful and told me that if I hadn't heard anything by the end of May that they could maybe help me out.

This really sucks! I'm starting to lose hope. The worst part is that I took my military transition assistance program class this week and guess who was there recruiting........A Border Patrol Agent. I really want this job!!! ERRRR I guess we will see what happens! Good luck to everyone....I know we are all in the same situation!

Don't lose all hope just yet. This was posted today, and still just a unconfirmed rumor. I somewhat trust it though since "Ray" on honorfirst usually has good intel.

But also, how I read it, they are not taking any new applicants. If you are already in the process you should get through sooner or later. It just may not be your selected location.

Also, I recieved a call today from IA. My file is moving on to a BI.

                            • "This office at the time of this writing is processing 15,237 applications. This includes Border Patrol, Customs and Border Protection Officers; Criminal Investigators; Immigration Enforcement Agents; and Agriculture Specialists.

And you wonder why we don't answer the phone instantaneously!"

                              I saw that on honorfirst.com.
So not all the 15,237 applicants are for the Border patrol agent.
Hopes it makes someone feel better!!!

I applied for the first NB posting last summer. I didn't get the call or letter that my package was in TSU until late January. I'm still waiting for them to call with a duty station. I did find out that my OJT will be spent in the San Diego sector though.

I don't have to worry about them honoring a preference because I only applied to the Grand Forks Sector at a GL-7 paygrade. Good luck to the rest of you in the process.
