Its somewhat like a dispatcher, but not quite the same as a state or local dispatcher.
Also its not quite how that article makes it sound. The opening on USAJOBS is mainly for the Border Patrol, I don't know if the CBPO's also use the SES's though. The SES's run records checks, call out sensor activations, and communicate with state and local agencies and EMS services.
I think the job differs greatly from location to location. Such as southern CA will have many more frequencies and much more radio traffic on each than say Twin Falls, ID.Last edited by madchiken; 08-13-2007, 11:23 PM.

Your in Montgomery AL, and your gonna do a move out to El Cracko!!!
Good luck friend! Been there done that and got the t-shirt. Let me make a few suggestions about living in EP, stay North of the I-10, and pick select locations on the East side. The West side of town closer to New Mexico state line is very thick with LEO's both state and federal.
Remember, the closer you live to the mountains on the westside also brings with it small scorpions that inhabit your house alongside you. They aren't real poisonious, but they feel like a wasp sting when they get you.
Call ahead to the BP sector as well as to the ports to talk with the CBP guys. There are tons of guys who are locals to EP that dabble in real estate, and always have rentals availiable to you. That way you can move right there to a place and not have to house/apt hunt. Best of luck to you.
