EPA Special Agent Posting June 2022

Did anyone see EPA posted a Special Agent opening for criminal enforcement and not OIG. I have been waiting for this, unfortunately it’s not open to the public, it’s not internal, but looks to only be open to special hiring authorities.

I wonder if this means one for the public will drop soon?

Awesome man, I don't blame you wanting to leave on that schedule. That's rough. Seems to make a lot of sense in your situation. I'm also starting the process with USMS and that'd be my top choice.

Thanks man, I definitely see the light at the end of the tunnel. USMS is definitely my top choice as well. Great time to get in with all their vacancies. Used to be nearly impossible to get in apparently.

Is anyone familiar with the EPA's hiring process? Testing, Interviews, Poly etc?

RedLeg_35A only familiar with reading the announcement and website. Appears minimal and straightforward. No test, no poly. Interview, background, drug test, medical.

I don't think CIA OIG does but they get OT or something similar. I think but not positive.

I applied under Schedule A for this and both EPA-OIG ones. Currently a GL 7 with BOP in FT Worth. Think I'd prefer the OIG since there is one in Dallas and it starts at a 9.

TxOfc92 that would be legit. I heard it's difficult to climb in BOP from former offr's. Like, most 09's in BOP are higher up the chain?

LightRoast it can be I guess as much as others. On the custody side, 7 is highest for regular officer, 8 is senior officer specialist and 9+ is rank. A 12/13 is normal for captain range but most don't achieve that within 5 years. A 7 or 9 to 13 non-supervisory is non-existent in the BOP. I started as a 7 so I was a bit ahead of the game, but a lot of the promotions can seem to be the "favorites." Once I saw that I've been dropping my name anywhere I can.

I had put in for both the EPA Criminal Investigator and just waiting now. I was referred for consideration but haven't heard anything else yet.

Double check on USAJobs where it says 'track this application' and brings you to the EPA sponsored section under the Application Manager for Monster. EPA apparently updates this more specifically than other agencies. I just found out I was not selected for either OIG announcements, but I'm still in the running for the CID announcement.

This is the same boat I'm in. It says on the GL7 comments that my app was received and they are currently reviewing, nothing since then.

One says eligible and referred for consideration and the other says received and reviewing.

My last communication from the EPA was on the 1st of this month with a Referred on Certificates notification. Has anyone been contacted for an interview?

Has anyone heard anything? Mine still says your application has been received and they are still reviewing applications. Is it worth contacting HR or give it more time? The announcement closed June 13th and pretty sure they started reviewing applications June 28th.

Referred for Grade 7 and 9. Non-referred for Grade 11. I had to manually check via USAJobs to see my status. I have no clue when I got referred. An email or phone call would have been nice.

What's the next step for this process? Anyone know?

EPA seems to be contacting people they're interested in based on the reports of others. If they are taking this long for us, maybe they aren't interested...they'll lose me to another agency at this point by dragging their feet. I'm much further along in the process with other agencies. I would have been fine working for EPA, but there are other and probably much better agencies out there for people with good resumes.

After reading your comments, I checked mine again and it still says reviewing application under GS7 and application received for GS9. I’ve seen it go both ways, where in the near future I could get a thanks, but no thanks Email. Or a year, plus later I get contacted. Still hoping I hear something positive.
