  • HHS vs DEA hiring process

Good afternoon everyone, haven’t been apart of this community for a long time but i pretty much read all y’all’s comments every day and it’s crazy to see the differences in each agency. I’ve been applying to every announcement that I qualify for since November. 1st one was the DEA BA2021-1 and I have been passed over, failed or was not referred to everything from HSI, FBI, ATF, and every OIG. Only two of the dozens of applications I have sent of have caught any traction DEA and HHS OIG OI in the recent grad announcement in which I am beyond thrilled about. It’s moving lighting fast and I was curious if any of y’all have moved this quickly in the OIG process or not, I saw some saying as fast as 4 months from app to final offer. Hope all is well and don’t give up on your dreams ladies and gentlemen. 5 years military USMC Infantry and security forces, BA in CJ 3.49, zero law enforcement background. TL for more references

Awesome man, congrats! Sent in my app for the DEA today and wasn't referred to HHS. Spoke to an ASAC for that agency and it sounds like a very interesting place to work if you're into complex healthcare fraud. I may be looking there down the road. Best of luck!

It’s a grind, DEA phoenix had a piece on YouTube saying they are doing 8 classes next year so lots of space.

Awesome, glad to hear it. Just started applying for 1811 slots in April so im guessing I'll be in the hunt for awhile.

My DEA timeline was vastly different, but that was in 2016 and I didn't take it. FYI, there are some 1811 openings for EPA if you're interested. Can't hurt.

None that are open to the public though, correct? Just looked at the posting

Congrats on the processes for you. If you wanna kick doors in and catch drug dealers then the DEA is the go ahead for you. However, if you want a family life and family oriented agency then HHS is your go to. But again, it is exactly how you make it. Very good place to work IMO. Some HHS agents work on a DEA task force, so keep that in mind. Again, congrats. Any questions, feel free to DM.
