Looking for some advice here. On February 10th I failed my first PFT attempt due to the run. The 45 day period for retest expires on March 27th. I just received an email saying that I am scheduled to retest next Friday the 17th. Could I/ should I ask to push it back for the full time I am allowed? I am on the cusp of being prepared but an extra week would definitely help.

Yes, ask for your 45 days if you feel you need it.
-
Doesn’t hurt to ask if you think it will help you out. Worst case scenario, they say no.

The PT Test is the only thing standing between you and an 1811 career where you will make 130k+ after 4-5 years on. Run your *** off and get it done. After you pass don’t stop improving either. You’ll have to do it in the academy. Make it a habit!

typically from what I've seen, these announcements have stated auto promote each year to up to 13, so if you start at 7, +52 weeks = 9, +52 weeks= 11, +52 weeks= 12, +52 weeks=13.....
-
What they said is correct. One year at each grade. 7-9-11-12-13
Edit: time at CITP and academy counts towards the first grade's time in grade requirement too.

Has anyone gotten an email for phase 3 interviews for the announcement that closed on 1/12 for HSI? I saw someone on Facebook say they got an email but just wondering if other people here had received it also.

Has anyone heard about what’s going on with medical? It seems they are stalling the reviews. Most people have been waiting five to six months and no reviews are being done. Any rumors or info about what the MAU is doing?

Patience is the name of the game now, they're definitely moving at the speed of government. I'll relay some advice I received a long time ago "Put in your application, then get on with the rest of your life." They've given TOL's so the ball is in their court to finish the task. At least at this point in the process they have to let us know one way or another, eventually. Something else to consider, with limited seats at FLETC/CITP, plus wanting to have a PT Test score within 45ish days of going there, timing is likely impacting things as well as the bureaucracy.

You'll know if you hear something before a year lol. Had personal friends take a year and a half to get cleared because he checked he gets headaches on the application. Who doesn't? I've had friends be cleared on more serious issues under 6 months recently.
Seat limitation doesn't seem to be an issue anymore, a new class is EODing at FLETC right now every pay period, which is basically max they can onboard and start classes.
-
yeah, I guess I set myself up for that "before a year" remark.....lol..... like everyone else I had been looking forward to them completing the process within a year total and the whole 3-6 months from TOL as well...... about to complete month 7 from TOL and 3.5 from medical follow up submission.......
-
Yeah I hear you. I'd never advocate for telling anything else than the 100% and whole truth, but people should think long and hard about their answers on the medical part of their ERO or HSI application with ICE. So anyone with things they have to report end is on a dice roll that they'll go down the detour you're stuck on.
Also for what it's worth, back in the day HSI's hiring time was over 2 years for everyone in my class, over half of which were current DHS clearance fed LEOs, many of whom were DHS TS and actively participating in read-in SCI projects or work efforts. So things are definitely better overall nowadays, though I know that doesn't bring much relief into the here and now.
Good luck with it. Job is worth it. I'm not longer there so I can't really answer any questions other than opinions, but I'm still pretty tied into the HSI world, so I can give my take on things, but now from an outsider's prospective.

I get it, most of my follow ups were from my VA claims anyway, so no way around it, and i wasn't surprised by any of it... with a current and active TS/SCI with CI poly..... i anticipated things moving fast post medical, and though I may have follow up because of VA claims..... just didn't expect such a long wait during it.........

Submitted follow up documents in December, got the response indicating needing waivers in April.... for those who are wondering/tracking...... ~ 4 months
Can anyone provide a potential timeline for post waiver request submission to "medical clearance".....????Last edited by RetiredVet19; 04-08-2023, 12:43 AM.

It may be possible. Baltimore, New York, or Philly may be more possible at EOD. Once you are in for a couple years, options in DC open up.Last edited by Achiever1911; 04-17-2023, 06:35 PM.

Low but not zero. DC is a desirable SAC office. I had some classmates make it to Maryland area in 5 years for what that's worth.

We’ve been quiet, sending an update, got my med waiver approved in mid-March and have been hearing crickets ever since. How’s everyone else doing?
Regarding my status, I have no idea, I have current TS background but a 5 year re-up is fast approaching. I submitted my updated eqip in September 2022 and have heard nothing about it.
Hope everyone is doing well. Have a good one.

received waiver request message early April.... submitted last week.... hope to hear back before mid-May....

Levithane - not necessarily true. I was enrolled in CE and had a
TS/SCI with DOJ in-scope. I still got the full service of eQIP, BI interview, reference checks and interviews, etc. To be fair though I was cleared and read in extremely quick.
-
Donjuan85657 That is probably due to the fact yours is from the DOJ. For the most part if you have a T5 BI conducted by the same investigating agency the agency you're getting hired by uses, it should be reciprocated. I have a T5 that was done by OPM around 5 years ago now, and haven't had to get reinvestigated. Currently work for DOD (not an LE position). As far as I know DOD accepted the T5 I have.

Got the call this past Monday. Stay positive as best you can, be ready and don’t hesitate on completing what you can as fast as you can (ie PFT etc). Here is my most recent timeline if it helps.
medical clearance: 4/30
PFT notification: 05/04
PFT pass: 05/05
Final Offer: 05/22
EOD: 06/18
FLETC: 06/27

I applied on Feb 22 announcement. Everything else I honestly don’t remember. I got a SWB location. It was one of my preferred locations. From what I hear it’s a busy office. Hopefully It’ll give me the experience I’m looking for professionally speaking.
