Ah mate, I couldn’t even tell you where I saw it. It could have even been on Delphi. Just search HSI on r 1811 and read through the threads.

As a member of the group stuck at medical acknowledgment, any thoughts it might be due to BI’s needing to finish up. I am current fed but my 5 yr renew was fast approaching. Just throwing out an idea for feedback.

BI and MED are separate processes done by separate entities, fail either one and you're out..... most likely due to the holidays and trying to get ramped back up to normal operations..... I will be shocked (and concerned) if we still haven't heard anything by the end of the January...... how long was it from TO to first medical screening/appt? nearly 60 days for me, so I can be patient.... I've heard they'd prefer to finish hiring within a year of the announcement, but I don't expect them to short-cut the process just to make that...... they warn that it can be 3-6 months or even a year from the TO, and this would only be month 4 right now, so...........

  • Anyone know how HSI has been giving out offer locations lately? I have the PFIT this week and I’m wondering if they give like 2-3 location choices.

reportedly, only one location with the final offer, it's possible to get a second offer with a different location if declined, from some stories....... as to the rhyme/reasoning to the locations......???????

You may get two locations to choose from at the time of your final offer. If you decline both you will be removed from further consideration and have to reapply. They have hired quite a few this time around which is why the new job posting is starting at gs 5/7 rather than 7/9.

Last cycle my preferences were bmore, Tampa, and somewhere else, maybe Denver, maybe somewhere else of the east coast. I forget. My first offer was Honolulu, which I immediately declined. Second offer was Calexico, which I also declined.

  • Here we go again - LOL. Put in for Hudson Valley, NY and Chicago SAC. Lets see what happens this time. Just got an email today that I "passed" phase I and II. Guessing they're going to take all of my results from the last cycle.

Idk. The last one. Got offers of Honolulu and Calexico back in November or December.

  • Hey everyone,

I was finally able to get my medical waiver request approved a few weeks ago and just was notified via email to confirm my preferred location for the PFT. I was also advised I should expect a phone call to schedule the PFT within the next two weeks. Just out of curiosity, has anyone received notice to conduct the PFT without submitting fingerprints/E-QIP? Seems like the PFT is the last step in the process and appears a bit odd I haven't been asked to submit anything background related. I'm trying to gauge whether or not my poly has been waived.

So since you are a current fed LEO, they will use the EQIP, prints, and poly (if completed) you submitted with that agency. After your PFT, my understanding is that you’re supposed to get a final offer within 1-3 weeks. They want you to pass your PFT within 45 days prior to attending FLETC. Good luck!

Not a current 1811, but I was offered a duty station not on the SWB or another incentive location.

    • Just got some bad news, got the not cleared for hire letter advising my medical wasn’t cleared and I have to request a waiver, if I would like reconsideration, I must include letters from everyone I’ve ever worked with showing my “medical” condition doesn’t effect my current performance. This sounds fun. Bit surprised, as Iam a current fed leo and thought the issue was a none issue when a MD signs off but I stand corrected. Hmmm. Best of luck to everyone else.

I’ll be sending in the follow-up/waiver information but who knows how it will turn out. Do what I can and then move along, just disappointing.

FYI - current 6c covered position but not 1811.

        Thanks for the advice.

not a current fed leo but in the same boat as well...but it looks promising as long as you are willing to fill out what they need.

Thanks folks, I really appreciate the positive support. Best of luck to everyone.

FYI- received some questions/messages regarding my timeline and thought I would make this easier for everyone. Got medical follow up request in October 2022, submitted my docs within a week and got notice in November 2022, of it being received. Nothing else until I received my notice yesterday.

    • Anyone know how to see what locations i selected as my preferences? I did it last summer not really expecting this process to move this fast. I was contacted for a pt test which means my polygraph was waived and my medical is clear?

Go into your applications in USA jobs, click the link for the DHS page and you should find a copy of your submitted packet. Not always the easiest to read but the info you want should be in the packet somewhere.

    • I had applied under the Feb. 2022 announcement and received a final offer call from HR. First location was border town, second location offer another border town. I'm on the East Coast. I can't relocate now. Family situation has changed. Is the agency going in a different direction in not honoring geographic preference locations under that announcement? Just wanted to see anyones experience?

Sorry to hear you couldn't accept what was offered. I was offered my first choice, which was a non-border SAC office. However, I know the office had multiple vacancies at the main SAC office and sub-offices within the SAC division. If your preferred offices did not have any vacancies, then HR probably defaulted to offices that need new hires the most, which are the border offices.

Welcome to the club. I got an offer 3 months ago. I'm also on the east coast, my preferences were east coast locations, and maybe a midwest? I forget. Anyhow, they offered literally the 2 furthest locations they could have - Honolulu and Calexico. Relocating to Calexico would've cost me $20k. I got no less than 10 quotes. Moving to HI would've meant trying to get rid of everything I own, and trying to move with 5 dogs. LOL.

Sorry to hear that. It happens more than you think. I would think they would have given you somewhere closer like if you picked Boston they could give you NYC or New Jersey.

Not sure honoring is the right word, every announcement has always said locations are merely a preference, and the agency will offer you locations according to the needs of the agency. Desirable east coast SAC offices have been replenished with years of Direct Hires, so the east coast SACs that were already difficult to get as-is for internal transfers are now even more scarce, for both transfers and new hires. SACs like Boston, DC, Charlotte, Tampa, were slim chances to begin with, and should more or less be scratched from applicants' minds.

Sounds like applicants are being offered border offices. The last announcement was border offices and hard to fill offices only, as is the tradition of yore. Nature is returning to its old ways. Nature is healing.

Sorry to hear though, I would definitely consider making the jump, if possible, for the locations offered, if it can be worked out with whatever family situation you have. Nearly all entry level 1811 gigs are going to require a move, and HSI is a good job.

This is a very true statement! You should have in your mind that you may not get the office you want. The only offices that may be a go for most FLEO agencies are NYC and SanFran.

    • Sadly folks this is a border agency. Don’t believe it then ask a lot of the guys on the interior vs exterior offices. Also I was on the east coast and accepted an offer on the swb. Everyone’s situation is different but if you don’t aligned with what your signing up for unfortunately it may not be for you. Don’t wanna sound like that guy but it’s ok to to be a good fit. Of course every new hire would love to be a SA. In a nice big city or somewhere close to home. But just because something is not now doesn’t mean never. Idk just my two cents.
