I applied for this announcement and picked pretty much everything except Alaska. I guess, HR is making their way through the folks that applied. I’m just waiting to see what comes first. I have been referred for other agencies for their 1811-GS13 as well. Just seeing who will provide a good location and when I will get the final offer. Good luck everyone.

  • Just applied in December… any idea when I’ll hear anything? Ten years law enforcement background, 6 years army guard, masters in cj…

      Hello,

I just applied in November around thanksgiving timeframe. I applied for the overseas announcement first. Then a few days later I decided to apply for everything on USAJOBS under 1811s. I just received my email for the overseas announcement which is posted in the previous post. Hope that helps you with an idea for timeframe. I applied for conus positions too but haven’t heard anything back yet. Maybe another week or two.

  • FWIW I applied to the CONUS openings in April and OCONUS in late August. Obviously just heard yesterday regarding the OCONUS spots.

    • I received an email yesterday stating that I've been referred to the hiring manager for all of the OCONUS locations for GS-09 and GS-11 grades.

          Same here....

      • Hello all,

I don’t know what you all put down and how you set up your federal law enforcement resume. There seems to be a lot of applications but most are being eligible but not referred. A few weeks ago, I have posted a seminar on how discussion on the criminal investigation questions and answers to better your odds on your application.

If this is something you want, then try to get some research and join those free courses, seminars, etc to know what will be expected of you and how to offset your chances of being selected. There are basically four levels and two tiers in this announcement. GS- 9 and GS-11 which will be your entry level to journey man roles. The second tier is your higher level journey man without supervisory responsibilities at GS-12-GS13.

the first two level can be substituted between experience and education. The better level of education and experience you have, the higher you will be referred. The second tier is sometime considered experience only and no education substitute but if you have a strong background and can showcase it in your applications and back up with other supporting services and documentation.

There are many variations/variables, all of this depends on background, such as veterans points, veterans disability, law enforcement background and experience, then also your current position that is either eligible or equivalent to the GS level you applied for. This is however my own personal opinion and speculation. Cover letter and how well it’s written, certificates, and other documents such as SF-50 to show case your years in your he federal law enforcement position.

everyone has a different background and experiences, so there’s not a one size fits all when it comes to these type of federal hiring requirements. I usually join seminars on hiring, I also assist with hiring process for my agency plus conducting interviews boards. It’s hard to say what kind of background one individual has when applying for this announcement.

As for me, I might take a paycut just going in as a GS-13. My agency is currently going through a pay increase to match other federal agencies. Our new cap is roughly $193K a year. Most of us including me are walking away from a $91K base pay without locality and LEAP. That’s only if I’m making the transition. I know some here just applied to see where it leads and just throwing their names in the hat and hoping for the best. I did the same thing and see how it will play out.

What agency do you work for?

      • Well,

even if we get referred, it’s not a guarantee that we will be offered anything. All it really means is that it was sent to the hiring manager and they will still comb through the pile of referred applicants.

it’s still too early from these referred status updates. That’s my take on how hiring goes. I will wait for the actual interview if one ever happens and also get a conditional offer.

          • Hello.

Last April, I applied for JB San Antonio. I was referred about 1-2 months after. Received an email in September to complete the Pre-Interview Questionnaire (submitted). Had my interview in October and hasn't heard a lick back from anyone. I've contacted CPAC recently but was given a basic answer (pretty much we'll get to your application when we get to it). Is this a good thing? I currently work for the Feds but the timeline from submitted application to hire is horrendous. Is anyone currently in my situation?

            • Morning everyone, for all the new and current applicants Army CID has received over 3500+ applicants for the Special Agent position and as it currently stands we have a section for 1811 new hires of about 5-8 people. They are trying to screen and process as many applications as possible with giving everyone a fair shot at the process.

Please be patient as we are trying to patch the boat as we go.

              • Det_sje Thank you for the info! I received a NOR for OCONUS locations… which I applied to months after the CONUS spots. Any idea when they’ll get around to NOR for CONUS?

                • What do you mean 5-8 people? Thats how many people received a conditional offer?

Det_sje is most likely referring to the people who are reviewing the 1811 applications. It might take 5-8 people some time to properly review that many applications.

                • I don’t think I made the cut. The application/ opening is coming up on a year and I haven’t receive any alert for any of the bases I selected. However I am moving through the process for FBI and USSS

CID might just be taking longer than other agencies.

I believe bigger agencies have more resources and man power to process applications. I applied for the FBI to see and understand the process. I applied 2 days ago and today I was invited to take the phase 1 exam. I think it’s not the same here with CID because they are still working out the kinks from the transition and moving forward with the 1811 civilian grades.

It’s like most people already said, it’s a process and we just stay the course. Depending on each individual situation, the wait time can seems longer for some. Usually, it’s an apply and forget. If they like what they see, they will reach out. Good luck!

                    @Mr.Young
I can’t image me being a GS-12 with BP and have a B.S in criminal Justice not looking somewhat attractive but you right. It’s just somewhat frustrating that I haven’t received anything after almost a year.

Even through i selected a good amount of bases to expand my odds. Out of all the 1811 applications I have a real desire to work for CID. Might just forget about it for a month and see what happens. I would at least like a rejection email.

                • Stay positive everyone, it was 6 months from interview to TJO for me. I had wrote the job off but it all came together. Good luck!

Do they interview you from the location you are applying to?

It was all done virtually. For me, I was interviewed for a specific location and got a TJO for that location. Others that I know were interviewed for a specific location, and ended up getting TJOs for different locations or requested different locations after TJO. Seems like it’s all done based on needs of specific field offices
