  • Asked for my status and got this response:

You are considered ready for selection, meaning you are eligible to be selected for a future class. The only task you have left id FIT. In regard to a FIT test, you will only be scheduled should a District select you. Unfortunately, we cannot predict who will get selected and when. At this time there is no further action needed from your end.

I reached out to a district to see if they can conduct my FIT. Dunno if it helps or not, but I've been emailing districts trying to be proactive.

I wouldn’t ask for them to conduct a FIT. You won’t normally get a fit until you are slated for academy. I reached out to my top choices with a brief bio and my info stated I wanted to go there and it worked. Best of luck. Just one guys opinion.

CFT2020 How long did it take them to respond? Ive emailed the same 5 districts like 3 times in the past month.

CFT2020 did you sent the emails to the district recruitment email or did you call the districts offices?

Treat it like a women, send one message. Don’t keep messaging. If they want to respond they will.
Give them some high level details.
      Ex.
      Prior USMC six years
      Special operations 4 years
      3 combat deployments
      Masters degree from …
Leo exp. Or not (normally just say what you have don’t focus on what you don’t)
Currently in hiring pool, interested in your district because.

But in clear sentences and bullet points.

I got a response from 90% I sent out. Whether, it was “hey man good luck” or “hey man we don’t have a say right now”

I got interviewed by districts chiefs and marshals after this. I was cleared in nov and picked up and in academy now. FYI.

I emailed district emails. Don’t jump the gun when yo are not cleared.

  • Anybody heard more details on the VRO program being suspended? I’m hearing rumors that they are no longer letting DUSMs transfer duty stations after 3 years because it was causing holes in the agency.

That combined with the change of them no longer telling you where you’ll be stationed prior to FLETC doesn’t bode well for people hoping to get placed somewhere good. I think it’s pretty obvious they need spots filled in a lot of backwater/undesirable locations. Think high cost of living or very rural. Just stuff that you should keep in mind if you have a family. Good luck everyone.

What is most likely going to end up happening, is deputies are going to have to solicit each other for duty swaps, much like ICE/HSI. I work near a SWB, and work regularly with guys who are east coasters, who have been trying to get back "home" for the last decade.

It’s getting more strict and there are postings for open positions. Due to certain districts getting too thin (DC courts)

  • Supposedly the whole "no duty station until after final offer" thing is going away, It was an attempt to fill vacancy's at hard to staff field offices but it got alot of pushback from the agency as well as new hires so they've scrapped the idea. This makes sense with other posts saying people are getting emails saying they are ready for selection but a district has to select you to take your FIT.

Everyone in the current classes all had duty station before starting.

  • Does anyone have the medical email POC? Trying to get in contact with someone from over there.

Same lol. Can't wait to move my family a second time.

    • Just curious, what type of workout plan does everyone do and how many actually follow the FIT Readiness program that is available on the USMS website? I myself currently do a mix of phase 1 workouts(am close to scoring into phase 2 range) plus some other things to supplement as well as plenty of running, pushups and situps. What are some other workouts you all have found beneficial or helpful?

Look up Jeff Nichols Performance First! Great workout plans, usually for guys getting ready for BUDs, so itll definetly put you into good shape. That's what I do, and I see great results.

mountain tactical institute has a USMS PFT prep program, its 6 weeks and designed to be taken just before doing the FIT. They also have a DUSM Academy prep program that's 7 weeks.

    • What’s the sit up protocol for the fit? Arms crossed across chest or behind head

I’ll add, elbows have to make contact or pass plane of the legs. Tops of shoulders have to hit the deck, rest is only in up position. (Very strict)

Push up rest is in up position no *** up or down, no hands moving ect..

      • For the medical exam, do they do bloodwork? It is fine if they do I just did not see anything about that on the medical forms you bring with.

Is there anything specific you are supposed to wear or is just shorts and a T-shirt fine? For medical I cannot think of any reason to dress up for it.

1998narc definitely no suit and tie. Nothing you have to tuck. Whatever you wear for a regular check up.

      • Anyone else just waiting on medical? Background cleared in March, have emailed the medical team quite a few times and every time am told that I should receive scheduling email in coming weeks. Last email a few weeks ago stated they are working on a backlog of candidates for medical. Very frustrating when this is the only thing from placing you in hiring pool....

Henyo I'm in the same boat. I completed medical in December, emailed them every month from February to April with no response from the medical team and the standard "we're still awaiting your medical results. We've copied the medical team for an update" every time. Finally in mid April they told me I had a follow up and the Dr signed off on their form in February. I did the follow up within 3 days and now nothing. No update as of this morning from HRD. All I have left is medical clearance and I'm in the hiring pool. Frustrating for sure.

Dang that hurt me to read. I read on here that it took someone a month after their medical follow up. I plan on sending an email after one month of submitting my supplement documents.

I only have a 5 point vet preference. Which seems almost worthless. I also interned with them in 2020. My medical took 4 months (Aug-Dec 2022) to process because of past issues so I think that might of slowed down things but other than that I’m not sure.

guy from my agency left us end of 2022 to attend the academy, IIRC he was a 2020 applicant. So based on that id hazard a guess they are into the 2021 pool now.

        • IroqouisB we arent even that. We are the livestock still waiting to be slaughtered, processed and stored.

Gen 5 Glock 17. And it’ll be your issued duty weapon. You’ll leave with it.
