Anyone have a rough estimate on how many are currently in the hiring pool? Recently received a message from HR stating that there could be thousands in the pool at any given time.

It is common. There are a few people who have received the email saying they have to reapply again since they hiring certificate expire

I was just put into the hiring pool, so I am super excited. I have seen posts before and in the email they sent me, it says selection isn't guaranteed. Does anyone know if that's pretty common to not be selected after going through the hiring process?

IvanL5 How do you have 10 preference points while still being in and not discharge? OPM uses the model of:

CPS - Disability rating of 30% or more (10 points)
CP - Disability rating of at least 10% but less than 30% (10 points)
XP - Disability rating less than 10% (10 points)
TP - Preference eligibles with no disability rating and discharged from active duty service (5 points)
SSP - Sole Survivorship Preference (0 points)

Just got a new email from the same Hr dude.

"The next selections will be for the January class. For each upcoming FLETC class, the seats are divided up among the different districts. This is where we use your district preferences. We have 32 different hiring certificate that we use to select candidates from. You were placed on one of these certificates when you applied. The three veterans’ bocking you are on the same certificate as you. We provide available applicants to the districts from the certificates. The districts rank their selections and return them to us, and we reach out to you. This is repeated until we have met our hiring target. If you are selected by more than one location your highest preference gets priority. Three veterans does not sound like a lot but it could still be a wait as we have several available candidates. I hope this helps.

Some candidates who are hired will report to FLETC and others will report to the district closest to their home while they wait for the next available class. For example, we have already hired the candidates for the November class and part of the January class. Once they graduate FLETC, they report to the district which selected them."

Reached out to both HR and medical teams to check the status of my medical exam which I completed in July. DUSM.applicant responded that they are still waiting on my clearance and that it can take several months to clear medical. The medical team responded saying that I have cleared. So my guess is HR just hasn't had time to process it yet. Anyone else run into this?

The reason I ask is because I have a few service connected disabilities and have heard of others doing follow on appointments to get cleared for VA disabilities and it adding several months to the process. If medical is saying that I am cleared does this mean that I am finished with the medical portion of the process? Or can HR request I do follow on appointments?

I hope you are well. You are at the selection phase. Once selected to continue in the process you will be schedule for a FIT test and Drug test which you must pass to continue in the hiring process and receive a final offer letter. At the start of the selection process, we ask everyone eligible for selection to provide their top 10 district preferences. Our next selection process may begin in November. There are 3 veterans with hiring preference ahead of you who will need to be selected from the hiring certificate you are on before you are able to be selected. It does not sound like a lot but can be unpredictable as we use several hiring certificate during the process. I hope this helps."

Im a 2Lt in the Guard, 5 years total military experience prior service.
