What’s the rule of thumb regarding emailing them after medical is completed but not cleared yet? I did mine middle of November. BI is currently being investigated. Currently 11 months in from info session hoping to get the cleared for hire pretty soon.

Kennywc how long after did you follow up?
I completed mine the beginning of December and followed up the beginning of Jan and they informed me that they were still awaiting my medical clearance, that it could takes weeks or months
-
deaguilar87 end of day or two before thanksgiving I finished it and I followed up last week.
-
Kennywc cool thanks , I’ll try again mid feb
-
I did my medical in mid November and I emailed HRD two weeks ago and got a similar response as deaguilar87 although they said it would just be a few more weeks.

Same here, waiting for medical and background email. When HR reached out to me about my transcript last week, they also included in the email that “the medical team will be reaching out in the coming weeks with information on how to schedule medical exam and any required forms that they need.”

My background investigator is coming to my job today to interview people.

Rumour has it that all new hires in the "near future" will be starting out at 1811 with LEAP. No information when this starts. anybody else have any info about that?

SOGmma how long was his hiring process
-
He came as a 7 step 10…his time line was info session dec 20, everything held up because of Covid, cleared for hire in sept 22, final offer dec 23, at DC superior as of Jan 23. Anyone that was brought as a 5 but is def qualified for 7 getting adjusted and fixed while they’re there or during onboarding apparently. This coming direct from him as of last week.

Just got the email to do the eQIP and fingerprints. Weird because I’m a current BPA and had a Tier V background done last year. Do they not reciprocate?

Hello ladies and gents. What are some things that can be disqualifiers during the background investigation? For instance, is a poor credit score detrimental to getting a clearance?

If you get an offer for a location that you really don’t want for various reasons, can you deny it and still be put back in the hat for another location? I’ve heard from a friend who just graduated that multiple guys in his class turned down a few offers until they were offered a place they wanted. It seems pretty risky. Do you guys have any info regarding this?

Interesting because I got my TOL yesterday, and they included a geographical wishlist that they would try to accommodate my preferences but there would be no guarantee. Still doesn’t mean they would give me a location with the final offer I suppose.
-
My tentative selection notice email had this sentence after giving me 24 hours to respond, “A non-response to this email will be taken as a declination/withdrawal and you will be permanently removed from future hiring opportunities”. Take that as you will but I wasn’t taking any chances as I was close to having my hiring certificate expire. I’ve heard of people getting multiple offers after declining a location and I’ve heard from current DUSMs that you may never get selected again.
If you want it bad enough like I did, you can make anywhere work for a few years.

Hey all, I hope everyone is remaining optimistic in this long process. Has anyone here asked DUSM HR about updating their resume? I finished medical and my background and just trying to see if I can update my resume before I (hopefully) get into the hiring pool and my name gets thrown in a hat. I started a new job and the experience seems like it would be a good thing to add.

It wouldn’t hurt to email and ask. I do know they have not allowed any changes to applications once they’re submitted to include applicants changing their vet preference. Clearly, the process changes so I would double check.
-
I tried and was told they only accept and use the resume/application that was submitted by the close of the hiring announcement you applied to. I had several years in limbo thanks to Covid where I was promoted to a leadership position, tasked with a new unit, completed training academies/courses, etc. but could not add any of it to an updated resume for the hiring pool.
