I got my offer in September, scheduled my medical a few weeks ago and haven’t gotten anything about the e-QIP

in same situation still not equip.

  • Mandony I wouldn't sweat it, this hiring process takes between 12-18 months to complete (according to the USMS.gov FAQ) and looking at these forums you see guys still waiting for academy dates from 2019! Just focus on getting in shape in the mean time.

      This is gospel right here.

  • Figured I do a new trend. I attended an info session around March 2022. Applied and took online assessment April 2022. June 2022 referred for GL5 and GL7 series. September 2022 scheduled interview for December. This is currently where I am at in the process. I have about 3 years of law enforcement experience with some school.

Congrats on getting to this point. Looks like things are speeding up but still not fast. Most people are finding out if they passed relatively quickly but actual TOL can take 3-6 months +/-. After the interview some people find out if they failed, pretty quickly. If you don't here anything you probably passed. Wait for TOL. Next will be sending in some docs, then medical and background. The order varies by person. I got my background started and then my medical. You'll fill out your background info, have an interview and then you'll either get a follow up or crickets. Every few weeks I would send an email to touch base with recruitment. I found out my background cleared by me emailing. Same with medical. Once you clear both you'll move to the hiring pool. If you have veteran preference you'll be higher up, whatever that means. Then you wait for tentative selection, PT test, drug test. Location and class seat. Times are speeding up for people. My info session was dec 2020 and I got cleared to hire one month ago. This is just information from my experience. Seems like it varies person to person. Feel free to DM any questions. Good luck, be patient, get in good shape.

      • Here’s my timeline so far.

Feb ‘22 - Info session SD
        March - Invitation to apply
        May - NOR GL-5/7
May - Email to schedule Interview TX
July - Structured Interview - NOR PASS (12 days later)
        October - TOL
        November - Medical
        November - e-QIP
        December - Fingerprint

Background - Current LEO 6 years, Bachelors, Non-Vet.

Just curious but is the background interview telephonic or is it in person? Will they be contacting my current employer and references in person or telephonically?

I’ve noticed a trend that all of us 2022 candidates are going lightning speed compared to 2019/20/21…

I actually spoke to a DUSM pretty recently that does a collateral duty with recruiting... I guess DOJ is getting ****ed because HRD is wasting a lot of money on candidates who either pullout (because of the ridiculous wait) or expire out of the hiring pool. I guess each medical exam costs the G $900.

There’s a cliff of 9/11 retirements anticipated by 2024. I also read the FY22 budget analysis of operations. USMS is having staffing issues with basic operations.

Anyone have an idea HOW MANY academies will be held in 2023?

Its apparently supposed to be 8. They were approved for 1.9 Billion regarding the fiscal year. 2021 applicant here, just moved to the hiring pool after clearing medical last late in Nov.

        • Good news all,

          Per recruitment at Southern District,

Ron Davis (the director) signed off on LEAP and is getting rid of the 082 series. So everyone will be starting at GS 7/9 with LEAP. IDK when details of the absolute start date will be, but this is great news.

IroqouisB Just so I’m understanding correctly, I’m not referred for a GL7, just GL5. When this goes into effect I should be a GL7 with LEAP?

Mikelow - unfortunately I don’t have those details. Myself and a few others called our local district recruiters to inquire details. They eluded to the fact of life, that the director is motivated to get it pushed into effect ASAP, but ultimately the pace of big DOJ will determine WHEN it will happen. Like you, I was extremely excited to hear this come out of someone official’s mouth. But things are TBD as when it will likely come into fruition.

There's no hiring announcement, they've done schedule b hiring since 2018. First step is to attend an info session. Try to get in contact with a recruiter via email, in your area or wherever you are willing to travel. Go to usmarshals.gov and there is a list of every district with an email you can contact. Attending that info session is the very first step in the hiring process.

        • @IroquoisB. Thanks bro for all the updates. Truly is helping and I’m sure everyone here thinks the same thing.

About 15-20 minutes if that. Stick to the STAR method and you will be fine throughout the interview.

            • Anyone see "MEDICAL: Applicant Scheduled Medical Exam" on USA JOBS onboarding? I was just curious as to what that meant because I completed medical back in July...I was cleared for the hiring pool in mid-late November.

The same notification showed on my onboarding account. The date on mine was 11/27. They had me come into FOH on the 30th. I just uploaded the “appointment verification” form on there and clicked complete. I am “100% complete” as of right now. Until the next task comes along. That’s just me though. I am sure they are tracking we are done with medical. I just didn’t want to sign in and continue to see “80% complete”
