  • It's also possible depending on what BI's you have already completed, they might do reciprocity and no eqip, might have happened to some other people.

    • Good point. Could be the case for some that haven't heard.

      • Im gonna assume that they’re still picking people? I applied Jan 22, interviewed in March and received my finger prints packet and was told to wait until I was told to send them off. It’s now Jan 2023 and I’ve still not heard anything. Did anyone here send theirs off? What did the email say as far as instruction and who did it come from? OMPF?

Most that are currently in the process applied June and later. Most are from October announcement. Everything has come from U.S.A. Staffing. You’re welcome to message me, I meet with my investigator Monday.

I interviewed in June of 2022, did very well and have not heard anything yet. I have a Top Secret clearance already too. Message me if you want.

      • Wondering if anyone knows at which point we get a course date? Meeting w/background investigator Thursday 2 Feb 23.

Based on previous comments, the Final offer comes approximately 4-6 weeks prior to your EOD date. Given the next class date is supposed to be 5/2/23, that puts final offers coming out anywhere after March 20th. Unless EOD is the week prior as I’ve heard they do your paperwork and stuff locally, in which case it’d be around 3/13. I meet with my investigator tomorrow, so hopefully it’ll be quick and easy.

      • Good afternoon, I interviewed for announcement 23-ATFMER-001 on December 19th and have not heard anything back. The last notification I received was from USAjobs that I was eligible based on the self-responses to the application questions. At this point am I to assume that I did not get selected? My status still reflects "application received" I also sent an inquiry email to the ATF applicant email three weeks ago, but no response.. If anyone is familiar with how things should proceed, I would greatly appreciate it. All the best.

It's a hurry up and wait type situation. There are some that have started background on this announcement and others who were told they would be receiving offers from an interview in July but are still waiting. Until you get a notice that you were not selected, don't give up. And continue applying to any new announcements as some end up canceled or defunded.

      • Just got an email saying I’ve been referred based off my interview although I was only referred to 1/3 locations I applied for….has to be good news though? Interviewed Dec 22

Either way, neither were very important, just delayed communication from OPM, aside from people finding out which locations they made the BQ list for.

got this same thing today although the funny part is that when i interviewed the guy told me it was for the spot I was at like I already got referred for that field office but then today I was told i wasn't referred to that FO but I was referred to another one so who knows

I'm not putting much trust into what OPM sends out. ATF seems to be mostly doing their own thing and faster than OPM from what I've seen. I meet with the investigator tomorrow, hopefully I'll get an opportunity to speak to the supervisor that interviewed me again while I'm there.

        • Here is what I think and I could be wrong. It depends on the field office/ their needs you are processing with. I interviewed in June of 2022 and have not heard anything BUT I truly believe it is because they just hired a bunch of IOIs. I did very well and I am almost 90% I will be attending the academy for an IOI position but later in the year due to the needs of the Philadelphia office. Let me know what you guys think.

Sounds logical. I'm definitely hoping you'll get an offer having had to wait since June for one. Since you have your clearance, it may just be waiting for the next class to be decided (based on previous classes, I'm estimating mid-March final offers for May 2nd class) for your offer to come in.

No. We're they actually pay for school without you getting a loan like CBP does. We're they pay school directly or reimburse you after you pass class.

        • That's all I could find so far. They may have the info on their internal SharePoint.

Salary and Compensation ATF Industry Operations Investigators (IOIs) use the General Schedule (GS) pay scale for criminal investigators in the 1801 job series. The Office of Personnel Management regularly reviews job requirements along with salaries and updates the GS scale on an annual basis. All qualified applicants must meet the basic job requirements of a GS grade 5

Did you also apply for Firearms Program Specialist? Or did they just randomly call you about it?

Also Martinsburg gets DC allocation pay which is sweet and on the very edge of the pay area. You can live on the cheap there compared to many other areas in the nation.

            • I applied for it as well.

I work here and I don’t even know what that is. But the job description the announcement is usually pretty close to what it does. But at least you’d start out as a 9 as opposed to a 7 with the IOI position.

            • Just a heads up, on USAJobs, I looked at my application and where it says, "Application Package Status" mine said "Not Referred" even though it previously said "Selected" and I was referred to all 3 locations on 2/2 and did the interview in December and currently waiting on BI adjudication. I emailed the HR specialist and she said it was not correct and that I'm still in the process. Just in case anyone else runs into that.

Thanks for the heads up. My stomach bottomed out when I saw that.

            • Has anyone seen issues arise if someone selects another position while in the BI phase? I was offered a position at ICE processing backgrounds from home and want to take it while I wait for this one to pan out.

Thanks! That's kind of my plan-- to take the best offer and wait for ATF to come through.

I've excepted and started at one place while waiting on another because anything can happen with that one. Not to long after left for another place, if it's not what you expected and have several Tentative Offers and blessed with that situation you have the ability to job shop.

As it might be looked down by some in their opinions I've done it, explained my reasons whenever I interview and keep getting the job. I'll say I have a few stakes in the fire and even a my current LEO gig, but this is my one stop shop finally

MP-K-9 sorry, thought my comment went through on the post you made originally.

I appreciate the feedback. Since my supervisor has been telling everyone I’m leaving since she was called for reference anyway I may as well take it and not have to deal with the prison anymore. Didn’t want to pass it up and ATF fall through anyway.

All good TX, in my experience, majority but not all treat you as a number. In reality that is true, but the agency really doesn't want to loose you. At the end of the day, dont feel bad about advancing you and the family when the opportunity presents itself. I'll still send folks to agency's I've worked for and explain what the job really is.
